Heres a fantastic opportunity for you to join our highly experienced Civils and Structures team as an Apprentice Civil Engineer.
You will learn how to design sustainable buildings of all shapes sizes and uses; from hospitals to homes from data centres to offices and so much more!
Our apprenticeship programme allows an opportunity to study for an academic qualification as well as gaining professional experience on our projects at the same time! You will be able to develop your technical skills through a variety of projects that you will take on as well as being supported in the development of your softer skills. We are looking to welcome an apprentice who is eager to learn and develop a career in sustainable building design.
What the role looks like
You will:
- Work with us full time
- Attend UWE Bristol for parttime study on day release one day 7 hours) per week
- Gain aBEng (Hons) Civil Engineering degree apprenticeship
- Qualify as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) after passing your EndPoint Assessment
What you will learn with us
- Preparation of simple calculation packs to support design development
- Preparing analysis models for structural design
- Arrange and attend meetings take minutes and distribute actions
- Attending and contributing to project team meetings
- Managing own workload to meet project and study deadlines
- Liaising with internal and external team members developing relationships and people skills
- Gaining experience in the preparation of reports drawings and specifications
- 3D modelling with Revit
What will you need to succeed
- Tariff points:112
- GCSE:GCSE: Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics or equivalent (we accept Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths).
- Alevel subjects:Grade C or above in Mathematics plus a pass in one of the following subjects: Biology; Chemistry; Computing/Computer Science; Design and Technology; Electronics; Engineering; ICT; Further Mathematics; Music Technology; Physics; Statistics. Points from Alevel General Studies and ASlevel subjects (not taken onto full Alevel) can be included towards overall tariff. You must have a minimum of two Alevels.
- EDEXCEL (BTEC) Diploma:One of the following BTEC Diplomas: Aeronautical Engineering; Applied Science; Construction and the Built Environment; Electrical/Electronic Engineering; Engineering; Landbased Technology; Manufacturing Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; or Operations and Maintenance Engineering. Must include Merit in one of the following units: Further Engineering Mathematics or Further Mathematics for Construction. Please list the units that you are taking in your application. - Access:Achievement of the HE Diploma; to include 30 Level 3 credits at Merit including 15 in Mathematics and 15 in another science or technology subject. Please list the units that you are taking in your application.
- Baccalaureate IB:To include a minimum grade of 5 in higher level Mathematics and a pass at higher level in one of the following subjects: Biology Chemistry Computer Science Design Technology Physics Environmental Systems and Societies.
- Irish Highers:H2 in Mathematics plus a pass in one of the following subjects: Biology; Chemistry; Engineering; Physics; Technology.
- T Levels:Grade C in ALevel Mathematics in addition to your T Level qualification. If you have or are looking to partially complete your TLevel you are still required to have the equivalent to 2 full ALevels as part of our minimum entry requirements. As a result if you are applying with only the core or occupational specialism this may be insufficient as a standalone qualification.
- GCSE grades9 to 4/ A* to C in subjects such as maths and English or equivalent experience/qualification.
And:
- A genuine interest in a career in civil engineering
- A keen attitude to learning and enthusiasm to achieve in the workplace and in your studies
- Strong numeracy skills
- Confident communication skills both written and verbal
- Enjoy learning how to use the latest digital technology.
