Required Master ASE Certification or TASBT Master Technician or obtain within 18 months
Required valid Texas Commercial Drivers License (Class A or B) with Passenger (P) and School(S) endorsement
Required to obtain and maintain a current state school bus driver certification
Required to have a minimum of five years mechanic experience working in a vehicle repair facility
Knowledge of purchasing and ordering requirements of a public school system preferred
Working knowledge of the standard practices and tools of the automotive mechanic trade
Working knowledge of the operation principles of gasoline propane and diesel engines
Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
Ability to meet and work with people in a positive and helpful manner
Knowledge and experience in Word Excel and data management
Use of automotive diagnostic equipment wheel balancing equipment tire repairing equipmentsmall hand tools drills grinder airpowered tools welding torch torque wrench jacks and lift equipment school bus and district vehicles
Knowledge of Fleet Vision System preferred
Responsible for assigning supervising instructing and performing preventive maintenance.
Review and approve requisitions for parts supplies and vendor repairs.
Review prepare and maintain work order files and records associated with the cost of labor andmaterials.
Determine optimal repair parts and procedures to be utilized while maintaining costeffectiveness.
Review and manage vehicle equipment and part warranties.
Develop implement and enforce safety programs maintenance programs and procedures.
Assign supervise and evaluate the work of mechanics.
Communicate with the Fleet Manager daily on vehicle readiness.
Maintain vehicle inventory and current vehicle maintenance schedules.
Responsible for the data entry of work orders and vendor repairs in the current maintenance software.
