Pawtucket School DepartmentPawtucket COZ Afterschool Program AssistantPart TimeThe Pawtucket COZ is looking for someone to work with elementary students in an afterschool setting aspart of the Pawtucket COZ 21 st CCLC afterschool and summer individual will beresponsible to provide all round program help as part of the 21 st Century Community Learning Center 21CCLC) programs. This person will help with snacks and homework are available to assist the individualclub leaders helps with dismissal and cleanup. Duties may include: checking in/dismissing students;homework help; oneonone help with any child requiring assistance; assistance with enrichment clubs with scissors with younger children gathering materials outside the classroom participating insports; monitoring small groups of children on field trips and any other activity deemed appropriate bythe site coordinator or club position welcomes paraprofessionals and/or community memberswith experience working with children and successful candidate will help generate a safe andemotionally environment and will be trained on emergency safety afterschool programs run at the elementary schools in 3 nine week sessions Monday throughThursday. The hours range from 2.5 to 3 hours per day beginning at directly after school until 5:00/5:30PM (dependent on school dismissal times which vary). There is a 20 hour paid professional developmentrequirement to be met throughout the school year; COZ hosts several training sessions that the successfulcandidate(s) may be required to Functions: Prepare cafeteria to receive students at the end of the school day with tables snacks andattendance list ready Supervise room and keep it clean as children eat their snacks and decompress. Clear cafeteria and move tables as needed Maintain contact with site coordinator to discuss duties as assigned Assist Club Leaders in clubs helping to demonstrate a high level of student engagement inlearning new skills while visibly showing that they are enjoying the activity. Attend an orientation before program begins. Handle emergencies should they occur Performs other duties as assigned by the Site Coordinator Program Manager or COZ DirectorRequired Background: High school diploma or equivalent with some college preferred At least two 2 years experience working with children and families in a multicultural setting Detail oriented Understanding of school culture Excellent organizational interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written Ability to resolve problems in a timely manner Must be confidential with respect to information about staff students and families The ideal candidate must have a desire to work with elementary age children. Experience and training in youth development preferred BiLingual is a plusPhysical Environment/Working conditions/Physical Demands: The work environment is typically within a school setting The working conditions (light noise level temperature etc are typical of (primarily) a schoolsetting.
