Job Description
OBJECTIVE:
A teacher assistant a teachers aide supports a lead teacher in charge of a classroom. The professional reinforces lessons by tutoring individual students or small groups. Their duties include interacting with students supervising projects creating lesson plans documenting progress and overseeing lesson preparations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare classroom equipment and instructional materials for lessons.
- Perform recordkeeping duties associated with the classroom.
- Instruct students in proper classroom procedures and behavior.
- Collaborate with teachers and parents regularly regarding student progress.
- Adapt instructional materials as necessary to meet special education guidelines.
- Other duties as required or as assigned.
PROFESSIONALISM:
- To be punctual and be available in the school during official working hours.
- To comply with policies standards rules regulations and procedures of the school.
- To take precautions to protect student records equipment materials and facilities.
- To participate responsibly in the schools improvement initiatives.
- To demonstrate timeliness and attendance for assigned responsibilities.
- To work collaboratively with other professionals and staff.
- To provide and accept evaluative feedback in a professional manner.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about school personnel.
REQUIRED PERSONAL SKILLS:
- Experience working with students of various ages backgrounds and ability levels.
- Experience with basic computer word processing and spreadsheet programs is required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Patience when dealing with students of varying abilities and backgrounds.
- Resourceful and able to modify instructional materials as needed for students.
- Excellent at recordkeeping and highly attentive to detail.
- Work with teachers and parents to develop student instructional strategies.
- Ability to maintain focus and control in chaotic environments.
- Positive Attitude.
- Team player in meeting targeted goals.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Wellorganized and committed.
- Creative and energetic in creating and maintaining a positive and safe learning environment.
- To demonstrate good work habits reliability punctuality and commitment followthrough.
- To demonstrate skill when managing student behavior intervening and resolving discipline problems.
- To model good social skills leadership and civic responsibility.
- Mediation skills for resolving conflicts between children.
- To foster student selfcontrol selfdiscipline and responsibility to others.
- Basic computer word processing and spreadsheet programs are required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Preferred: Two years of college classes or an associate degree in education or a related field.
- Preferred: Experience working in a related position like tutoring or childcare.
