About the role
Job Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development: Lead and support a dedicated team providing guidance on physics and radiation safety while collaborating with the Clinical Director and Chief MRS on operational and professional matters.
Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships across SVHA local health districts universities and professional bodies ensuring effective communication and collaboration to enhance service standards and patient care.
Quality & Compliance: Promote continuous quality improvement ensuring adherence to professional standards regulations and policies including managing radiation safety protocols accreditation programs and radiation management licenses.
Training & Mentorship: Oversee the training of staff and students including providing mentorship to the medical physics registrar and supporting the professional development of the team through education and research activities.
Safety & Risk Management: Champion the health and safety of staff and patients by ensuring compliance with workplace safety standards overseeing radiation dose assessments and preparing contingency plans for potential incidents.
About you
Qualifications & Accreditation: A masters in medical physics (or equivalent) with current eligible or working towards accreditation with the Australian College of Physical Scientists & Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) in Nuclear Medicine along with a valid radiation license with NSW EPA.
Research & Expertise: A PhD in Medical Physics or strong experience in medical physics research is preferred demonstrating a deep understanding of the field.
Leadership & Change Management: Proven experience in leading and motivating teams with the ability to implement change management principles and achieve measurable outcomes in a clinical environment.
Clinical Experience: Prior clinical and operational experience in medical physics particularly in Diagnostic Imaging Services within Nuclear Medicine with a solid track record of delivering results.
ProblemSolving & Communication: Exceptional interpersonal communication and negotiation skills with the ability to work autonomously or within a multidisciplinary team to solve complex problems and make informed decisions.
