We have an exciting new opportunity for a full time Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry and Lead in Memory Services working for a leading Trust in Northern Ireland UK. This will be for a 2year fixed term contract to work full time 10 programmed activities per week) with the potential to extend at the second largest hospital in Northern Ireland with teaching hospital status.
The postholder will provide consultant medical input to the memory diagnostic Service providing assessment and diagnosis in conjunction with other professionals and will liaise with other medical services in more complex cases.
The postholder will work closely with the older peoples community mental health team to provide specialist assessment diagnosis and treatment to patients with dementia and older people with mental health problems in outpatient clinics and review patients who are unable to attend clinics wherever they reside within the locality.
The postholder will work with colleagues to provide the Memory Assessment Service providing diagnosis assessment and management in conjunction with other professionals.
The postholder will assist with the provision of teaching and clinical supervision for medical students medical postgraduate students and others receiving training in the care of older people with dementia & functional mental illness as well as to those providing care to younger people with dementia. They may be expected to provide supervision for one or more postgraduate trainees in addition to providing clinical supervision for members of the multidisciplinary team including SAS Doctors.

It would be desirable to have: Higher Degree a Qualification in Management Publications/Research a formal qualification in psychotherapy a formal educational qualification Involvement in high quality audit or Quality Improvement work.
