As a Senior Principal Engineer on the Member Marketplace team youll lead the charge in architecting and scaling the core userfacing experiences across desktop mobile web and native apps. Youll set the tone for engineering excellence champion performance and accessibility and lead crossfunctional efforts to modernize and futureproof our frontend platforms.
In this role you will own the technical vision and architectural strategy for Shipts Member Marketplace experience across web and mobile and be responsible for designing and evolving component libraries design systems and crossplatform UI foundations to support multiple teams and product surfaces. You will lead modern React and React Native application architecture using for SSR/SSG and Apollo GraphQL for data orchestration and scale best practices for state management routing async data handling lazy loading and crossdevice responsiveness. Additionally you will collaborate across domains to solve complex problems that span backend data and mobile platforms influence the frontend platform strategy through contributions to performance monitoring observability and alerting practices and contribute to clean GraphQL schema design GraphOS federation strategies and scalable datafetching paradigms.
What Youll Need to Be Successful
Core Technical Expertise
10 years of experience in frontend engineering with a strong foundation in JavaScript/TypeScript
Deep knowledge of React React Native and for building modern scalable SPAs and mobilefirst applications
Strong understanding of Apollo GraphQL and best practices around clientside schema management caching and federated GraphQL
Experience with component libraries design systems and tools like Storybook Figma and Chromatic
Mastery of CSS strategies: CSSinJS Tailwind SCSS CSS Modules or equivalent
Fluency in crossplatform architecture and experience with mobilespecific constraints
Strong grasp of state management patterns (Redux or context API)
Expertise in building and scaling frontend CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with Web Vitals Lighthouse Core Web performance metrics and observability tools (Datadog New Relic Sentry)
Work Arrangement
Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham San Francisco or Minneapolis to be hybrid which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate collaborate and spark team connections. Inoffice expectations will vary by role and leader. Certain roles may require inoffice presence on a fulltime basis.
