UL Solutions is seeking a Business Manager to join our Integrated Energy Systems team one of the fastestgrowing divisions within the organization. This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive commercial and operational strategy optimize business performance and contribute to the advancement of energy solutions.
Location: Hybrid role requiring three days per week in our Northbrook IL; Melville NY; or Fremont CA offices.
This role is ideal for a resultsoriented leader with a strong background in business management strategy and operational excellence.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement commercial and operational strategies to drive both organic and inorganic growth ensuring profitability and customer satisfaction through a deep understanding of market intelligence.
- Financial Management: Oversee P&L activities budget development and financial forecasting to meet revenue profit and enterprise value targets.
- Operational Efficiency: Manage costs reporting and workflow processes while providing strategic input on growth targets for customers and market segments.
- Revenue Oversight: Monitor revenue activities including unbilled aging and inactive projects ensuring a balanced demand and throughput.
- Capacity Planning: Implement resource strategies to align operational plans with customer needs ensuring the right availability and skillset for project fulfillment.
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities ensuring a strong pipeline of projects to meet financial goals.
- Customer Engagement: Build and maintain strong customer relationships through proactive market analysis visits and participation in industry events.
- Pricing & Service Optimization: Drive pricing promotions and service offerings to maximize profitability and market competitiveness.
- Investment Management: Oversee capitalintensive investments to meet longterm strategic goals and ensure timely delivery.
- Team Leadership: Lead mentor and develop a highperforming team by fostering a culture of accountability engagement and continuous improvement.
- Change Management & Compliance: Promote a highperformance culture drive transformation initiatives and ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Collaboration & Vision Alignment: Work crossfunctionally to strengthen internal and external relationships aligning with ULs mission to deliver the highest quality and most customercentric solutions.
QualificationsQualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Business or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Energy Systems sector.
- At least 5 years of leadership experience with a preference for candidates who have managed other leaders.
- Experience managing large capital expenditure (CapEx) projects involving multiple stakeholders is preferred.
- Strong business acumen with a proven ability to lead diverse teams make strategic decisions and understand how business choices impact overall results.
- Solid financial acumen including a clear understanding of how business decisions influence metrics such as Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) and Return on Investment (ROI).
- Skilled in performance management including setting goals addressing training needs handling employee relations and workforce planning.
- Ability to simplify complex concepts and present information in a clear concise and impactful manner.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial reports data market analyses and legal documents.
- Experience working in diverse cultural environments and collaborating with global teams.
