Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for performing assignments in assisting Senior Inspector in the performance of their duties.
- Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress.
- Provide inspection services for earthwork asphalt concrete structures erosion traffic and other construction items as dictated by the project complete reports and forms as necessary and perform other duties as directed by management and/or the client.
- Review application materials including asphalt concrete and earthwork for acceptable materials and mix.
- Ensure that materials meet project specifications.
- Inspect roadway and structures for conformance to plans and specifications.
- Evaluate structural materials placement of culverts and structural operations such as foundation excavation.
- Monitor placement of pilings reinforcing and structural steel concrete and backfill.
- Inspect and monitor traffic control and erosion control devices.
- Perform accurate calculations and computations.
- Complete advanced QC testing and document results.
Qualifications - Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Fleet drivers must possess a valid drivers license and a safe driving record.
- Must complete a preemployment screening; ICE is a drugfree workplace.
Education & Experience Requirements - High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Associates or BS Civil Engineering desired.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in roadway construction inspection.
- Concrete Asphalt Earthwork Construction and Nuclear Radiation Safety Certifications required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel Word Outlook.
- Above average math and problemsolving skills are required.
Physical DemandsThe role involves moderate physical activity such as walking standing bending and climbing stairs or ladders. Employees may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds. It is essential for employees to navigate construction sites skillfully and conduct thorough inspections of materials and structures. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects and proficiency in recognizing sound tone and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods. Employees must be capable of working in varied environmental conditions including hot cold and noisy settings and be able to stand and walk during site visits. Additionally working on construction projects may involve night work and weekend work depending on the project scope and may include working in conditions with active traffic. Expected Hours of WorkThe ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule.
