Description

The Outpatient Pediatric Team at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is recruiting an occupational therapist for the AOTA Pediatric Fellowship program that will run from August 1 2025 through July 31 2026. Qualified applicants must possess excellent communication flexibility and time management skills as well as a desire to implement the most current and evidencebased practice. Candidates will have the opportunity to collaborate with a variety of multidisciplinary team members and pediatric therapists across the continuum of care as well as across the organization. Extensive training and mentorship provided throughout the fellowship.

Job Summary:

Responsible for assessment diagnostic and /or treatment services to any person when so ordered by a physician dentist or podiatrist. Treatment is provided through the employment of physical means such as therapeutic exercise heat water electricity massage ultrasound and the use of rehabilitative procedures and devices. Will assist with acute outpatient and pediatric populations.

What Youll Need:

  • Licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of North Carolina with current licensure.
  • CPR Certification every two years.
  • Valid NC drivers license.

What Youll Do:

  • Responsible for the performance of specialized tests such as manual muscle testing goniometry and teaching occupational therapy procedures to the patient family and other health personnel.
  • Performs both individual and comprehensive evaluations with multidisciplinary team members. Provides written summary of diagnostic findings to be incorporated into team plan.
  • Plans intervention strategies and communicates effectively with families regarding the childs strengths and weaknesses; work may be performed in homes agencies preschools or clinics.
  • Provides occupational therapy treatment services including neurodevelopmental and sensory motor therapy developmental stimulation home programming equipment demonstration or other treatment modality to enhance sensory motor functioning and general developmental status.
  • Provides documentation of goals and objectives for therapy as well as the course and progress of interventions with the patient. Participates in IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan) as needed.
  • Participates in chart review of clinical records for quality assurance. Attend relevant workshops and update instruments/tools to ensure most beneficial practices for population served.
  • Attends scheduled staff CDSA or other committee meetings as needed.
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills
  • Contact with patients family members visitors coworkers and medical staff under a wide variety of circumstances
  • Ability to work with infant pediatric adolescent adult and older adult patients
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Functions effectively under stressful and difficult situations
  • Ability to work effectively with the team
