In addition to processing payroll this person is entrusted to ensure that all aspects of employees compensation package are delivered in a timely and accurate manner. This is a key role in the organization as they are relied upon to help maintain the employees trust in the company so that they can in turn focus on their day to day duties.
Our client a Kamloops based business operating across the country is a leader in their field and employs well over a hundred people across the company. They have a dynamic administration team and offer a relaxed office environment flexible working schedules and an opportunity to grow with the organization as they continue to expand.
As a Payroll Specialist you will have the key responsibility of processing the payroll for all company employees across the country as well as administering all aspects of the benefit plan both extended medical and ancillary benefit programs). In addition to these this role helps to support other key figures in the accounting department ensuring a challenging environment and that no day is just another day. This role will require great attention to detail and focus and will be a challenging role for even a seasoned accounting professional.
The Role:
Located in Kamloops
Processes Payroll for several hundred employees in accordance with the Employee Standards Act
o Working with payroll provider to maintain employee database
o Yearend payroll processes
o Posting journal entries to GL
Manages all aspects of benefit administration:
o Updating team members on a regular basis
o Processing applications
o Handling inquiries both from provider and from employees
Working with other accounting departments to aid in their monthly volume of work:
o Account reconciliations
o Processingadministering A/RA/P
o Etc..
Continually troubleshooting processes and procedures in the department with an eye to improvement
Other duties as required
Your Skills & Experience:
***MUST HAVE*** The ability to take ownership of any projects they undertake and see them through to completion
***MUST HAVE*** The ability to work without much supervision and deliver on hard timelines
***MUST HAVE*** Superior Office 365 skills (particularly MS Word and Excel)
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of personalities
Continually looks for ways to improve their department and processes
Cognizant of the importance of confidentiality when dealing with employees sensitive information
A proven track record in problem solving
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in an environment with shifting priorities and conflicting deadlines.

Strives to build relationships beyond their own department
