Position Title: Special Education Teacher Resource Room
Resource Room:
This program provides remedial academic assistance for all students. All students have identified disabilities that require specially designed instruction in order to assist the student in being successful. The specially designed instruction may be delivered in resource room or in the general education classrooms. In addition to direct teaching responsibilities the resource teacher develops and supervises the specially designed instruction and is responsible for scheduling and direction paraeducators in the performance of their duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
POSITION SUMMARY
The position of the Library Specialist is done for the purpose/s of comprehensive
management of a school library.

Library Media Endorsement
Library experience
Customer service experience
Bachelors Degree
Preferred:
Two years of library experience or experience in a related field and education in
library science is preferred

DUTIES AND POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages collection development through the selection acquisition deselection of
library materials
Collaborates with certificated staff in the continuous assessment improvement and
development of library resources to support the Districts curriculum
Develops and establishes a welcoming environment of respect and rapport with
students staff and community
Advocates and communicates the mission goals functions impact and outcomes of
the Library Resource Center
Provides flexible and equitable access to a range of information to meet the diverse
learning abilities and needs of students and staff
Markets the library as a critical resource to enrich literacy knowledge and
competence to empower student excellence innovation and success
Supervises and interacts with students in the library
Develops a budget providing for the purchase processing and upkeep of library
resources
Procures supplemental funds through many avenues such as grants book fairs and
donation events
Curates resources for subject specific curriculum assembles and organizes library
resources for classroom use in collaboration with certificated staff
Builds depth and breadth of knowledge about the library collection and anticipates
future needs
Assists students and staff in identifying the appropriate resources for learning and
literacy
Digitally tracks all library resources
Maintains records and inventory of library materials
Collaborates with key leadership teams to develop and align use of Library Resource
Center to meet student staff and community needs
Manages library use during the normal professional work day
Administers and assigns library fines for student accounts
Develops and maintains community relationships to provide access to resources not
available through BSD
Recruits trains and oversees the library student and community member volunteers
and student assistants
Troubleshoots routine library technology issues

TITLE: Digital Learning Teacher
POSITION SUMMARY
The position of Digital Learning Teacher works with teachers and other educators to build
and strengthen connections between student information and research needs Digital
Citizenship and Responsibility STEM focus curricular content learning outcomes and
information sources supported by current digital technology resources.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
Proven successful experience in using technology to enhance and extend learning
Knowledge of WA State Computer Science Standards
Washington State Teaching Certification
Preferred:
Recent experience and a strong librarymedia/information technology background

Provide direct instruction to elementary students in:
Learning and applying Digital Citizenship and Responsibility
Producing their own resources to communicate learning to a broader audience
through the use of websites (for internal use only) slide decks video tutorials and
databases to support technology integration.
Using research and inquiry based learning projects to teach informational and digital
literacy skills
Engage students in the construction of deep knowledge through the exploration of
ideas and information conducting investigations communicating and evaluating
findings

Research and Inquiry development of ideas through MakerSpace/Creation Station

Create a genre driven library for easy student access and selection of resources.

Supports staff by providing:

Support in using emerging resources for instructional delivery and student

Access to newer digital and informational resources
Provide guidance for designated Specialist to maintain circulation of library resources
and collection
Provide oversight to designated Specialist on book selection and purchases
Collaborate with teachers during PLC time to support integration of research and
inquiry into classroom projects
Providing group and individual instruction assessing student progress and
evaluating activities aligned to educational technology standards;
Collaborating through planning and implementing professional development
opportunities within the school and District for staffin conjunction with Digital
Learning Coordinators and Digital Learning Leaders
Collaborates with designated Specialists and volunteers to maintain library media
and circulation
Fosters a creative flexible environment so that the school library is an essential part
of the learning community;
Works with appropriate staff to develop and maintain media resources appropriate to
the curriculum the learners and instructional goals of the school community;
Works with the appropriate staff to implement procedures for selection acquisition
circulation and sharing of resources in all formats as established by the District;
Evaluates promotes and uses existing and emerging technologies to support
teaching and learning;

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
This position is that of certificated staff and is represented by the Monroe Education
Association collective bargaining unit. The position will work a schedule in coordination with
the District student calendar. Salary and benefits as determined by the current collective
bargaining agreement. (Placement on the schedule is determined by training and
experience. Employee is required to complete all mandatory district trainings.
EVALUATION PROCEDURES:
The Library Specialist shall be evaluated by the Building Administrator according to currently
established district procedures and evaluation criteria. The process shall include an
evaluation of the employees performance of the above position responsibilities.
