Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in psychology education student personnel business management or a closely related field.
  • Two 2 years of related experience coordinating and/or implementing direct student services and case management in a professional environment.
  • One 1 year of related experience in a mentoring student support or customer service setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing facilitating promoting implementing and overseeing the COMPASS mentoring program services and related activities. Manage the mentormentee matching process including processing student and mentor applications and all related program communications to mentors and mentees. Manage the evaluation and assessment process for the mentoring program and its participants including students and mentors. Serve as the Colleges liaison for the mentoring program with individuals groups and organizations both internal and external to the College community. Ensure the mentoring best practices standards and protocols are established and maintained.
  • Recruit screen and provide training to all incoming mentors. Maintain a database of mentors as well as a resource list of existing College mentoring programs to help students faculty and staff easily connect to available mentoring support. Serve as a referral point between mentees and mentors collaborates with Academic Coaches and other College departments to address mentoring needs questions and concerns. Refer students to College and community resources as needed.
  • Document and track mentoring program activities. Compiles mentoring program information and prepares periodic mentoring impact/data reports including weekly monthly and annual reports as needed. Execute postservice evaluation or feedback of the mentoring program and compile and report the results. Identify and implement areas for continuous improvement within the Mentorship Program.
  • Represents and promotes the mentoring program as well as the Falcon HOPE Center by attending studentcentered and other college community activities and events such as Welcome Back Week Homecoming Resource Fair Staff Education Days Fall/Spring Planning Student Development events and Admissions events. Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends and on all DSC campus locations.
  • Attend or conduct staff and other College meetings to exchange information about the Mentoring Program services as well as the Falcon HOPE Center. Collaborate with various departments within the College Community to promote and support mentoring student success and retention. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel and People Soft.
  • Serve as the Club Advisor for the Mentoring Club and liaise with the Student Life department on club activities.
  • Participates in the creation development preparation and distribution of marketing materials promoting COMPASS and the mentoring program. Maintain the Mentoring website in collaboration with the Colleges marketing department.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong public speaking experience
  • Mastery of Excel and computer database systems
  • Must be able to follow complex directions handle multiple priorities and solve problems acting independently to initiate and complete assignments
  • Must be able to function effectively in a team environment and possess planning and visionary skills
  • Posses the ability to grasp concepts quickly
