Job Duties:
Prescription:
- Process prescription orders for dispensary items: Pull patient prescriptions from EPIC order pool and communicate with providers in EPIC if any questions; locate products formulate teas and tinctures and blend creams; type labels explain prescription labels update patients dispensary records and answer basic product questions from patients doctors and student clinicians.
- Take special orders for prescription items: Locate accurate retail price for patient via catalogue or phone; estimate time of arrival for product to patient; process special orders upon arrival including Insurance Reimbursement Financial Receipts and mailout product; and explain special order procedures for patients student clinicians and physicians.
Communication
- Doctors & StudentsProvide product and patient information to doctors and students in person and by phone: Maintain and file dispensary records retrieve and return phone messages request updated information from doctors on behalf of patients.
- Patients & CustomersAssist patients and customers in locating requested OTC (overthecounter) products.
- PublicGuide customer queries regarding health concerns to our Clinic: Limit product and health information given to public in accordance with Bastyr Policy.
Finance
- SalesHandle financial transactions necessary for the sale of dispensary goods both retail and prescription: Operate pointofsales cash register and bankcard machines provide accurate refunds when appropriate and approved by supervising manager or lead.
- Insurance/Tax ReceiptGenerate Insurance Reimbursement Paperwork for Patient Submission: Ensure correct product and price are recorded on form Sign and Date.
- Mail OrdersPrepare process and package requested items for Mail Order: Include Insurance Reimbursement and Financial receipts package mail orders to prevent any breakage use mail meter accurately for correct date and charge.
Inventory
- OrderingComplete weekly ordering of Dispensary retail and/or prescription inventory as coordinated with Dispensary Manager and Dispensary Coordinator and with input from Clinic faculty and clinicians.
- ReceivingComplete processing of incoming dispensary inventory: unpacking shipments assessing price changes from invoices and pricing correctly.
- MerchandisingArrange and maintain an organized & merchandized retail/prescription space as well as neatly kept prescription goods section.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be proficient in MS Office know how to type and use a computer keyboard. Knowledge/familiarity with Latin and common names of herbs and their uses.
- Familiarity with medical terminology very helpful.
- Must have basic understanding of computers and the willingness to learn more. Must have basic math skills for determining formula quantities.
- Must have interest in alternative medicine and willingness to work in a learning environment.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate well with variety of clientelestudents doctors patients and customers seeking information.
- Ability to do several things at once in a fastpaced environment without error or lack of efficiency. Ability to prioritize demands as they arrive and tactfully convey time constraints to waiting staff and customers.
- Ability to handle heavy phones and frequent customer requests. Ability to learn and operate cash register accurately and efficiently.
Experience:
- Three years of retail sales inventory management and customer service experience. Previous work in the health field or natural products industry preferred.
- Experience using EPIC and knowledge of HIPAA strongly desired.
Education:
- Two years of college education or equivalent.
- Some coursework in anatomy physiology first aid and study of herbs.
