Itron is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their team in Waseca MN. The role involves designing testing and supporting electronic components and systems for metering and smart grid applications. Candidates should have a strong foundation in analog and digital circuit design PCB layout and troubleshooting. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative energy solutions in a collaborative engineering environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates proficiency with electrical design and theory
- Design develop test and trouble analog digital and RF circuits
- Use lab equipment for circuit development
- Verify that designs meet requirements through analysis simulation and measurement. Compares results to theory and documents results
- Write design specifications test plans reports project documentation etc.
- Analyze data and make recommendations
- Provide technical support to factory service and other internal departments
- Work closely with other design disciplines (embedded software PCB layout mechanical engineer etc.
- Play a key role in the design validation cycle
- Lead and participate in design reviews
- Work with and accept mentoring from more senior designers
Required Skills & Responsibilities:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 510 years of design experience or related experience.
- Solid understanding of electrical circuit theory
- Good understanding of RF propagation
- Good understanding of electronic components and how to design circuits using various components/devices.
- Experience working with RF circuits/electronics
- Experience with printed circuit board design and layout Demonstrated experiencing designing and developing firmware and performing other key functions as listed above.
- Strong problems solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience with instrumentation for design development test and analysis. (I.e. oscilloscopes volt meters spectrum analyzers signal generators etc.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Strong hardware troubleshooting skills
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience working with microcontrollers and embedded software/firmware
- Experience using Schematic capture and PCB Layout software
- Experience using programming languages like C C# LabView and/or MatLab
