Statement of Duties:
- Promote by example Loyalty leadership dedication integrity physical fitness sportsmanship cooperation and personal responsibility.
- Focus on building a strong culture aligned with core values for the Cheerleading program in the highly competitive Merrimack Valley Conference.
- Implements codes of conduct for coaches players and parents of the HHS Cheerleading team.
- Ability to work the expected hours to include arriving prior to the student athlete arrival and departure times.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of game and competition rules and has the ability to educate all coaches and studentathletes to share in that understanding including the rules of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA).
- Develops appropriate training programs and practice sessions.
- Ensures the proper cleaning storage and maintenance of all athletic equipment and uniforms are adhered to in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
- Travels with studentathletes on the team bus both to and from games.
- Demonstrates knowledge of strategies and rules of cheerleading.
- Works with the Athletic Trainer(s) and completes injury reports for any student injured within 24 hours even if the athlete does not see a physician.
- Works with the Athletic Department staff to ensure the proper forms including physical attendance parent consent and medical information is collected prior to the start of the season.
- Enforces the policies and procedures of the Haverhill School Committee and the Haverhill High School Student Handbook.
- Supervises appropriate behavior of students from arrival to departure both on and off the field including the locker room buses practices and at home and away games.
- Maintains a safe environment and facilities for all student athletes at all times.
- Attends the annual HHS all Coaches meeting.
- Reviews the HHS Coaches Handbook annually.
- Reviews and signs the Massachusetts AntiHazing Law Form annually.
- Demonstrates commitment to protect student athletes from inappropriate conduct.
- Proven ability to enforce all rules in all sportrelated activities and venues.
- Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects and procedures pertinent to cheerleading including rules of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA).
- Proven ability to work in a professional and friendly manner with various contingencies; i.e. students teachers parents administrators boosters media officials and the school community and public.
- Reports to the Athletic Director and Haverhill High School Principal any disciplinary issues immediately.
- Performs other duties as requested by the Athletic Director Principal and the Superintendent of Schools and/or his/her designee.
Qualifications:
- Proven ability to advocate the importance of education and school community.
- Successful previous experience as a cheerleader or coach
- Cheerleading coaching experience preferred
- Valid Drivers License required
- First Aid/CPR required
- MIAA Coaches Certification preferred
