Job Description

Position Criteria:

  • Masters degree in Education School Administration Counseling or other related field
  • Iowa Professional Administrative license with evaluator approval required
  • 5 years experience in educational administration business/nonprofit operations career services workforce development and/or project management.
  • 5 years experience as a teacher counselor or school administrator.
  • Knowledge of Future Ready Iowa Career and Technical Education (CTE) and preparation academic programs
  • Effective evidence based Instructional strategies and assessment practices
  • Knowledge of Iowa Core Instruction project based learning and MTSS
  • Curriculum development
  • Safety practices and procedures

Performance Criteria:

  • Promotes and leads tasks in the Districts strategic plan to support the Districts goal: Students are prepared with futureready skills and a plan beyond high school.
  • Leverages relationships within the local and national communities with the goal of ensuring that all secondary school students have the means opportunity and preparation to succeed in postsecondary education ranging from two or fouryear colleges apprenticeships certification programs the military and in the workplace.
  • Ensures processes are established in all schools whereby appropriate measures are systematically used to assess student preparation for postsecondary success.
  • Supports the development implementation and evaluation of a structured Pre K12 district career and academic program with the development of longand shortrange plans and programs.
  • Develops a comprehensive program of schoolbased offerings business and community partnerships and work experiences that bring community partners and the District together.
  • Provide and expand support for business and industry partners including CTE program advisory councils apprenticeship/internship councils communitybased organizations city and county municipalities nonprofit partners local government partners students teachers and parents.
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning to establish postsecondary readiness outcome measures of success PK12. Provide increased accountability by monitoring assessing and reporting data to track students progress and retention including graduation rates college attendance readiness and persistence AP concurrent enrollment internships industry certifications and apprenticeship completion.
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive fouryear academic and career planning system ensuring students are guided through a structured process for goal setting course selection and postsecondary exploration.
  • Establish and maintain credit tracking systems to monitor student progress toward graduation providing early intervention strategies for those at risk of falling behind.
  • Lead professional development and training for staff on best practices in career and college exploration goal setting and academic planning to enhance student support.
  • Collaborate with school counselors administrators and educators to integrate career and academic planning into advisory programs student support services and curriculum development.
  • Implement and manage technology platforms that allow students families and staff to track academic progress career interests and postsecondary plans in real time
  • Utilize data analytics to assess the effectiveness of fouryear planning initiatives identify trends and inform continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with the School Improvement Team to recommend and direct college readiness assessment programs including but not limited to diagnostic data such as ACT SAT and PSAT.
  • Prepares state reports and completes research on topics related to postsecondary readiness.
  • Works with stakeholders to develop implement and monitor a PK12 district Career and Academic Plan that is grounded in exposing students to possibilities provides structures for students to explore and one that builds on partnerships with our workforce so our students engage in experiences solving problems and contributing to the betterment of our local and global community.
  • Leads communication and promotion efforts for postsecondary readiness in coordination with the Executive Director of Communications which may include the development of press releases website material and college and career events. Communicate with other administrators personnel and outside organizations/ government agencies to coordinate activities and programs resolve issues and exchange information.
  • In coordination with the Director of Secondary Teaching & Learning and Director of Elementary Teaching & Learning works to provide direct support and instructional leadership for graduation requirements dual enrollment career technical education career readiness programs internships and services at all PK12 schools.
  • Facilitate meetings workshops professional development and training etc. (e.g. regulatory requirements community or outside agencies interdepartmental needs etc. for identifying issues developing recommendations supporting other staff and serving as a District representative.
  • Coordinate and supervise afterschool events activities conferences and meetings.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with parents and the community to support District goals and program objectives.
  • Assist in grant writing to acquire funding to support applicable areas.
  • Work with administrators staff and applicable agencies to ensure that staff certifications align with their teaching assignments
  • Support the WILC Program Administrator in the management of the building
