JOB TITLE: School/Juvenile Court Liaison
REPORTS TO: DPP
Job Description:
Under the direction of the building Principal/Director/Coordinator to create provide and coordinate services and activities with children families and communities that foster overall wellbeing and promote a positive learning environment. Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of the academic program and student enrollment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors Degree in social work human services family services counseling or related field required.
- Experience in public school and/or court system preferred.
- Has met the requirements of a criminal record check as specified by Kentucky State law and other requirements as specified in district personnel policy.
- Must be capable of working with juveniles including those with disabilities.
- Must possess strong interpersonal organizational and computer skills.
- Practical experience in program planning implementation budgeting record keeping and public speaking.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working with children parents and community members.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Communicate effectively using speech vision and hearing and in writing.
- Work cooperatively with others.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
- Manage conflict.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Basic computer skills including use of Google email websites etc. Experience using Infinite Campus is preferred.
- Federal state and local regulations in services to children and families.
- Correct English usage grammar spelling punctuation and vocabulary.
- Interpersonal skills using tact patience and courtesy.
- Recordkeeping techniques.

- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Board policy and according to federal state and local regulations.

Essential Functions Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reports to work promptly and on a regular basis
- Assist with student enrollment and attendance
- Develop community and school relationships which lead to educational success.
- Foster trusting relationships with family members to increase compliance with school and court requirements.
- Create and maintain uptodate files on each juvenile.
- Maintain complete and accurate records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation.
- Provide parents with community resources related to mental health substance use etc.
- Participate as a member of juvenile court team as needed.
- Monitor and report behavior and attendance of students to court according to approved procedures.
- Perform routine clerical duties and maintain records.
- Assists juveniles and families by providing appropriate examples emotional support a friendly attitude and general guidance.
- Confer as needed with school administrators to meet student needs.
- Work cooperatively with others.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintains confidentiality of records and information concerning juveniles.
- Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication among juveniles families school staff and court staff Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
- Represents the school in the community effectively and in a positive manner.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and act as a positive role model for kids.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Adheres to the requirements of any District or school employee handbook Owensboro Board of Education policies Daviess County Public Schools Board of Education policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
- Transport students as needed to various appointments via school board vehicle.
- All other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the DPP.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor environmentally controlled. Typical office environment including but not limited to telephones personal interruptions background noises. Will require working with or near the public parents and with juveniles and will be subject to sounds scents and other related environmental factors. This position will require dealing with conflict and requires use of sound judgment. This position will require working outside making home visit during the winter and summer months.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Classified Evaluation Plan.

- Contract Days: 240
Travel Requirements: (Frequency and Duration)
- Less than 20 out of district
- Daily as needed within district boundaries
