Ensures the safety and security of patients guests employees and property by enforcing policies and procedures in a professional and courteous manner. This role includes general security duties and specialized canine handling responsibilities.Job Description:
These Principal Accountabilities Requirements and Qualifications are not exhaustive but are merely the most descriptive of the current job. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Conduct facility patrols lock/unlock buildings and respond to security incidents
Locate missing patients and mitigate criminal activity
Enforce security regulations to ensure the safety of all persons and property
Conduct regular health assessments and preventative medicine for the canine
Administer emergency first aid measures to the canine
Conduct daily inspections of the canine to detect early signs of illness disease or injury
Maintain an ongoing preventative medicine program for the canines overall health care
Train and maintain the canines proficiency in obedience scent detection and security functions
Utilize the canine for firearms and explosive detection in accordance with security policies
Assist in deescalation efforts and behavioral health response
Participate in emergency response and preparedness drills
Perform routine security duties including crime prevention deescalation safety enforcement and report writing
Provide public demonstrations of canine capabilities to educate and enhance security presence
Maintain compliance with all applicable laws regulations and accreditation standards
Maintain detailed records of canine training medical care and deployment activities
Adhere to safe canine handling practices and ensure the proper care feeding and housing of the canine
EDUCATION:
HSHigh School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
DLValid Drivers License required to operate Sutter Health vehicles
PSO Proprietary Private Security Officer
K9 Training within 90 days of hire
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
5 years of experience in Security Law Enforcement or Military
3 years of experience as a certified K9 handler
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Proficiency in computer and Windowsbased applications for data entry and information retrieval
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Technical knowledge of canine behavior handling techniques and emergency first aid for canines
Ability to recognize and differentiate between canine and zoonotic diseases communicable to humans
Knowledge of Adams Law and Megans Law
Ability to work effectively in a team and maintain composure in stressful situations
Basic knowledge of criminal and civil laws and investigative procedures

Pay Range is $44.28 to $66.42 / hourThe salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidates experience education skills licensure and certifications department equity training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
