Position Summary:
The Direct Support Professional in the Recreation Services program is responsible for supporting individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities through recreational activities. This position works directly with persons served and meets their needs while demonstrating flexibility in adapting to those needs. Individual must represent Community Living Inc. in the community with appropriate professional behavior at all times.
Pay Rate: $18/hr
Schedule:
- PT Various hours days evenings and weekends
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Checks vans daily and transports persons served to and from Adult Recreation events in a safe and efficient manner.
- Completes all documentation related to persons served activities on a daily basis.
- Assists persons served with hygiene physical and mobility needs as necessary.
- Ensures the safety and welfare of all persons served.
- Promotes and maintains a positive relationship between the Adult Recreation program and its persons served families staff and volunteers.
- Fulfills utilization requirements as assigned.
- Passes medications as required without error.
- Completes and maintains all required trainings.
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications:
Education Experience Skills:
- 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Possess sound oral and written communication skills as well as decisionmaking skills.
- Possess good listening and comprehension skills along with strong leadership and decisionmaking skills.
- Must be able to write and document in a clear concise and professional manner.
- Possess the ability to use Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to Outlook Word and Excel.
- Ability to work as a team member.
Certifications Licenses Registrations:
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- Moderate Work Exerts up to 50lbs of force occasionally and 20lbs frequently. Standing sitting reaching typing and walking are common.
- Drive large vans to and from events programs etc. Must assist persons served entering and exiting the van and safely lock down wheelchairs on vans.
- Physically assist persons served as needed.
- Lift persons served who cannot bear weight.
- Push and maneuver wheelchairs.
