Calibration Engineer - Electrification Battery Systems

Job Description

Work Arrangement:

Hybrid Position does not require an employee to be onsite fulltime but the general expectation is that the employee beonsite an average of 35 days each week.

The Role:

We are seekingmotivated candidates for an Electrification Calibration Engineer position in GMs Global Electrification Calibration group at the Milford Proving Ground. The position involves significant invehicle and lab work along with related analytical and performance verification activities. Calibration engineers engage in crossfunctional teams are expected to handle multiple projects/priorities and frequently need to balance planned and unplanned work. A typical week includes invehicle calibration & testing lab/bench/analytical activities and collaboration with algorithm/software and hardware engineers.

Calibration engineers participate in offsite development trips as well as onsite program team vehicle evaluations. In GMs Electrification group calibration engineers at the Milford Proving ground are located in a unique facility dedicated to hybrid/EV development.

This position will support electrification calibration of Battery Systems on GM vehicles. The selected candidate will deliver calibrations that ensure feature/diagnostic functionality and robustness. Successful candidates will utilize system hardware/software troubleshooting skills to resolve issues and complete their calibration standard work. Candidates will analyze large sets of data collected during various driving maneuvers (in simulation dyno and vehicle) tune the system response through calibration and identify areas requiring a change in controls.

What Youll Do:

• Develop and optimize calibrations to meet performance and timing requirements utilizing Calibration Standard Work

• Conduct calibration reviews to ensure high quality calibrations

• Organize plan and coordinate calibration activities with Lead Calibrator and Diagnostic Strategist

• Support identification of requirements for resources to develop calibrations

• Diagnose and correct vehicle system and controls deficiencies

• Support resolution of vehicle plant lab or customer issues

• Utilize analytical tools to develop & verify calibrations

• Develop use and update calibration procedures

• Participate in controls groups and support development of algorithms

• Participate in development trips and related test activities

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

• BS Engineering Degree or equivalent discipline

• 2 years of postgraduation engineering experience

• Independent worker requiring little direction and works well in a team environment

• Excellent planner and complex problem solver

• High level of oral and written communication skills

• Experience with data acquisition and analysis

• Knowledge of and passion for electrification propulsion system architectures

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

• Masters Degree Engineering Degree or equivalent discipline

• 5 years of postgraduation engineering experience

• Embedded Controls and/or calibration experience

• Experience with tools commonly used in calibration: INCA Vehicle Spy CRETA MDA Matlab/Simulink

• Embedded Controls and/or calibration experience

• Knowledge of HV battery systems and controls
