To perform duties related to street and traffic maintenance.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
For both oneofakind and repetitive tasks the supervisor makes specific assignments that are accompanied by clear detailed and specific instructions. Incumbents work as instructed and consult with the supervisor.
SUPERVISION GIVEN
Does not supervise.
1. Repair streets and alleys.
2. Assist with the placement of traffic control devices.
3. Perform various traffic maintenance duties such as street painting and sign installation.
4. Pick up trash and clean up blight citywide and sweep sidewalks as needed.
5. Perform various road construction tasks along with associated street maintenance work.
6. Perform street patching using hot and cold mix asphalt.
7. Occasionally assist in paving operations of streets and alleyways.
8. Perform drainage control measures such as cleaning catch basins and culvert entries and exits.
9. Assist in installing and maintaining traffic control devices barricades street signs and snow fences.
10. Assist in forming mixing and pouring concrete to replace or repair curbs gutters and sidewalks.
11. Assist in sealing operations using a variety of different materials.
12. Assist in roadside grass cutting and/or roadside brushing/right of way clearing.
13. Assist in street and legend painting operations.
14. Operate a variety of motorized vehicles including but not limited to pickup trucks and oneton dump trucks.
15. Perform light equipment maintenance such as changing tires vehicle washing repairing tire chains adding fluids to proper levels replacing cutting edges and daily inspection checklists.
16. Operate a variety of power tools and hand tools including chainsaws street routers concrete cutoff saws selfpropelled concrete saws etc.
17. Perform indoor maintenance and routine cleaning of Street Maintenance facilities.
18. Be an effective team member by exhibiting selfmotivation supporting other employees in handling tasks interacting effectively and respectfully with others showing a desire to contribute to the team effort accepting assignments willingly and completing tasks within agreed upon timelines.
19. Other duties may be assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
A. A minimum of one 1 year of verifiable experience as a construction laborer or in a position with equivalent duties.
License Requirements
A. Possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D drivers license or privilege.
Education/Experience Review 100 of scoring process; 70 pass point): Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be rated based on the type (relatedness) and extent of their education and experience as documented on their application and/or supplemental questionnaire. Applicants who pass this exam will have their names placed on an eligible list for this classification.
