Position Summary

The programmable logic controller (PLC) technician will be responsible for daytoday monitoring and upkeep of the plant control systems. This role is a day shift position but off shift support may be required at times.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The PLC technician will work with engineering on capital projects.
Assist maintenance by reviewing program logic to identify field device issues.
Aid in maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation equipment. (HMI Graphics Variable Frequency Drives Control and Communications Networks etc.
Performs highly skilled electrical duties including troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems board level replacement and equipment.
Calibration and maintenance of field instrumentation.
Troubleshoot field devices using Rockwell Automation PLC programming software.
Maintain and catalog accurate backups for variable frequency drives and all other programmable equipment.
Work directly with the Engineering Group to improve the production process.
Act as a liaison between engineering and electrical contractors.
Owns and manages electrical projects from conception to completion ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
Coordinates resources materials and personnel to successfully execute electrical projects.
Completes all required documentation.
Ensures effective communication and collaboration with relevant departments to minimize downtime and maintain production requirements.
Be willing to participate in offhours support.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.

Works in all areas of the plant mine and office.
Exposed to heat cold inclement weather dust vibration ground limestone and dirty working conditions.
Requires climbing on various plant/mine structures where requirements exist.
Some travel will be required 5.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

High School Diploma or GED required. (Associates degree or trade school equivalent preferred.
Five years experience in manufacturing environment.
Five years experience working with automation controls software.
Ability to operate multimeter oscilloscope megger and other related electrical test equipment.
Knowledge of basic mechanical electrical pneumatic hydraulic and electronic principles.
Ability to understand and interpret electrical schematic drawings and technical specifications.
Able to log onto PLCs and read and diagnose ladder logic for trouble shooting purposes.
Familiarity with commissioning optimizing and maintaining variable frequency drives.
Selfmotivated data driven scientific problem solver.
Initiativeoriented with the ability to perform job functions independently without supervision.
Team player with a positive attitude and strong collaboration skills.

Physical Requirements

Works in all areas of the plant and mine. Exposed to heat cold inclement weather dust noise vibration ground limestone and dirty working conditions. Occasionally works in confined spaces. Has a full knowledge of electric code diagrams schematics symbols and use of plant electrical equipment. Works from sketches simple blueprints standard procedures and generally understood methods. Work may be performed while walking standing and climbing. Requires frequent eye effort. May be required to travel to other division locations for the purpose of instructing installing and/or problemsolving situation.

Any offered salary is determined based on relevant factors such as an applicants skills performance job responsibilities prior relevant experience certain degrees and certifications and market considerations.

U.S. MarketBased Salary Range

$ 31.82 $35.00

In addition to base compensation individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and profitsharing payout.
