We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Contract Specialist to join our construction company. The Commercial Contracts Specialist is responsible for providing accurate and timely commercial advice for Aecon consistent with their education training and experience all in accordance with Aecon policies and procedures and customer requirements.

What Youll Do Here
- Responsibility for all customer and subcontractor required documents required from opportunity identification to project closeout by providing contract advice from the prebid estimating bidsubmission negotiation contracting ongoing project reporting including change and delay management negotiating change orders initial dispute resolution coordination litigation support to ultimately project closeout reporting.
- Draft review negotiate and drive to all customer required documents including requests for quotation requests for proposals confidentiality agreements prebid agreements purchase orders contracts representations and certifications while exhibiting an exceptional attention to detail in applying company policies and procedures by providing practical analysis of inherent risks mitigation strategies and recommendations for commercial matters to operating staff during the project lifecycle.
- Assist project staff with the interpretation and practical application of contract documents.
- Exercise proper judgment to engage with Aecons legal advisors to seek advice at the appropriate times.
- Assist in formation and administration of contracts with Subcontractors and ensure that required and relevant terms and conditions are flowed down to Subcontractors.
- Act as the primary point of contact to client for contractual matters.
- Prepare develop send and manage timely contractual correspondence and notices in accordance with specific contractual notice timelines.
- Maintain a current log of all issues change requests and change orders for each contract.
- Ensure accurate issue files for all contractual matters are maintained for each contract.
- Provide presentations and workshops as may be required to the employees with respect to contract administration including corporate policies procedures and guidelines change and delay management.
- Contribute to the revision and maintenance of operating policies and procedures.
- Obtain the assistance of the appropriate Aecon Legal department as required.
What You Bring To The Team
- 5 years experience supporting an industrial engineering nuclear or construction business.
- A Bachelors degree.
- Meticulous attention to detail strong work ethic and robust organizational skills.
- Experience negotiating and drafting commercial contracts in corporate setting.
- Knowledge of project operations policies procedures and strategic direction.
- Understanding of project planning scheduling and management.
- Experience dealing with labor obligations and their impact on the Project.
- Ability to grasp technical and commercial issues understand how they fit within the contractual context and develop appropriate written positions.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word Excel Powerpoint Outlook etc..
