The Agency must provide the public with a wide range of materials in both official languages and in a variety of formats and styles. This is in support of its enhanced engagement efforts under the Impact Assessment Act. The Agency requires the services of a Senior French Editor/Writerin order to deliver on this important mandate. The Contractor will work with Agency employees in a collaborative manner to manage a heavy volume of work.
The required services may include but are not limited to the following:
Scope
- Reading and understanding complex documents about environmental and impact assessments (complex documents means long reports such as assessment reports that address multiple issues include technical information diagrams and specialized terminology)
- Performing a comparative review of documents translated from English to French to ensure that the French version aligns with Agency terminology.
- Meeting and collaborating with Agency clients on editing needs
- Proofreading documents prior to publication
- Expressing and exchanging information in a clear and concise manner
- Ensuring information is communicated to the appropriate people in a timely manner
- Ensuring communications are clearly understood by encouraging and listening to feedback both internally and externally in the organization
- Preparing reports for specific purposes using clear communicative and professional language (for example audit reports management letters consulting reports financial reports and memorandums)
- Applying and verifying the application of federal government standards to materials
Tasks
- Willingness to work overtime and on weekends to meet tight deadlines.
- Set up meetings and/or telephone calls with Agency clients as required.
- Work independently and as part of a team either inhouse or remotely.*
- Develop work plans and schedules in order to keep managers informed of editing progress.
- Complete comparative reviews of complex technical documents about environmental and impact assessments and major projects.
- Liaise with clients to ensure buyin for all revisions.
- Take responsibility for quality and document control.
- Deliver high quality translations and revisions ontime to meet deadlines.
- Review documents translated from English to French such as web content communications products reports abstracts analytical articles and/or technical documents.
- Work with translation software such as FLOW Multitrans DeepL.
- Adapt and deliver translations using existing protocols and processes established by the Agencys Language Services team.
- Work effectively with document repositories such as GCDocs.
- Meet regularly with colleagues over MS Teams to go over timelines and deadlines.
*Agency offices are closed due to COVID. Remote work is mandatory at this time.
The following will be provided:
- A laptop and VPN access to the Agencys internal network.
- Access to software such as Microsoft Office MS Teams FLOW MultiTrans DeepL
Requirements
- Must be able to communicate effectively in French and English.
- Must have valid Government of Canada security clearance at the level of Reliability.
- Must be available to work overtime and on weekends to meet tight deadlines.
