Job Description

WHO WE ARE

JBG SMITH a Maryland real estate investment trust owns operates and develops mixeduse properties concentrated in amenityrich Metroserved submarkets in and around Washington D.C. most notably National Landing that we believe have longterm growth potential and appeal to residential office and retail tenants. Through an intense focus on placemaking JBG SMITH cultivates vibrant highly amenitized walkable neighborhoods throughout the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Approximately 75.0 of our holdings are in the National Landing submarket in Northern Virginia which is anchored by four key demand drivers: Amazons headquarters; Virginia Techs $1 billion Innovation Campus; proximity to the Pentagon; and our placemaking initiatives and public infrastructure improvements. In addition our thirdparty asset management and real estate services business provides feebased real estate services.

JBG SMITHs dynamic portfolio currently comprises 14.2 million square feet of highgrowth office multifamily and retail assets at share 99 of which are Metroserved. It also maintains a development pipeline encompassing 8.8 million square feet of mixeduse primarily multifamily development opportunities.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Analyst in Asset Management will be responsible for preparing financial analysis and modeling that will assist the Asset Management team in developing and implementing strategies to maximize the value of each of the assets within its portfolio. In that capacity the Financial Analyst will interact with the investment development property management leasing and accounting teams as well as Senior Management at JBG SMITH.

WHAT YOULL DO

  • Provides analytical support to senior members of the Asset Management and other internal teams
  • Assumes day to day asset management responsibilities for select projects including general market tracking obtaining relevant market comps analyzing leasing and operating economics versus budget/proforma reviewing property performance in relation to market conditions evaluating operating expense trends
  • Assists in the preparation of more comprehensive annual strategic plans and reporting for individual assets and portfolio (valuation analysis market analysis sell/hold/refinance analysis capital expenditure analysis)
  • Provides due diligence/closing support during major capitalization events: financings recapitalizations dispositions acquisitions
  • Prepares and coordinate capital calls and loan deliverables such as loan draws escrow releases covenants and manage reporting requirements
  • Interact with outside parties including lenders joint venture partners retail/commercial tenants legal counsel and brokers through professional written communication and timely response to requests

WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED (REQUIREMENTS)

  • 03years of financial analysis experience with an exceptional academic record superior quantitative skills and analytical abilities
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel spreadsheets
  • Strong quantitative skills and core financial competency and the ability to create financial models and oneoff financial analyses with ease
  • Basic knowledge of financing and underwriting methodologies ARGUS experience a plus
  • Conscientious selfdirected and entrepreneurial with the ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively with teams

The salary range for this position is $70000 to $80000 note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline. It is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors. JBG SMITH considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position candidates work experience candidates work location education/training key skills internal peer equity external market data as well as market and business considerations when making compensation decisions.
