Qualifications
Hold a valid Oklahoma Secondary Counselors certificate
Clearly understands and adheres to the School Counselor Code of Ethics and Oklahoma Accreditation Standard VI
Enroll students using knowledge of learning abilities and adolescent development while preparing them for academic success and developing an appreciation for lifelong learning
Understands and communicates how to successfully plan prepare for and enter postsecondary education and/or employment by forming tentative career goals and implementing strategies to achieve them
Expand study and testtaking skill opportunities for state and national tests for all students
Works with students to learn and practice skills and techniques for decisionmaking and to problemsolve in school and in the community that support positive health and safety choices
Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications: To effectively work with staff members to counsel students
Demonstrate examine and analyze how interpersonal communication affects relationships with peers and adults
Serves as a member of the schools Counselor Advisory Committee which creates and maintains annual documentation of school counseling services
Constructs a specific school program and prepares an articulated school counseling program with supporting documentation
Other duties as may be assigned
Skills and Abilities Required:
Regular Requirements:
Stand for extended periods; walk; twist at theneck and trunk; bend and reach with hands and arms overheadabove the shoulder and horizontally; repetitive use of fingers and handsto grasp and/or operate equipment and demonstrate lessons tostudents; lift/move up to 15 pounds.
Occasional Requirements: Lift/move up to 25 poundsability to administer CPR
Visual Requirements: Close color peripheral depth perception ability to adjust focus
Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information
