A Fiber Engineering Director is responsible for leading the design implementation and management of fiber optic networks ensuring highquality service delivery and driving strategic initiatives to support organizational goals. This role requires a combination of technical expertise leadership skills and operational oversight.
What will your job look like
All you need is...
1. Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute strategies for fiber network design deployment and maintenance.
Lead crossfunctional teams to align with company goals and customer needs.
Plan and execute largescale fiber network initiatives.
2. Project Management:
Manage all aspects of fiber network engineering including design standards permits and TCP
Monitor and ensure contractual performance metrics are exceeding the targets
3. Team Development:
Build and lead a highperforming engineering team by recruiting training and mentoring staff.
Foster a culture of innovation collaboration and accountability within the team.
4. Customer Experience Improvement:
Ensuring timely delivery of customer assignments and elevating the quality standards
Address customer feedback by proactively identifying and resolving issues.
5. Stakeholder Engagement:
Act as a technical resource for senior leadership in decisionmaking processes.
Build relationships with internal stakeholders vendors and other stakeholders.
6. Technology Optimization:
Stay updated on emerging technologies in fiber optics to drive innovation.
Rationalize tools and processes to optimize efficiency in design deployment and maintenance.
Qualifications
1. Education:
Bachelors degree in electrical engineering Telecommunications or a related field; advanced degrees are preferred.
2. Experience:
1520 years of experience in fiber network engineering or telecommunications.
At least 5 years in a leadership role managing largescale projects or teams.
3. Skills:
Strong knowledge of fiber optic technologies including design principles splicing techniques testing methodologies and industry standards.
Expertise in project management tools and methodologies.
Excellent communication negotiation and problemsolving skills.
4. Technical Proficiency:
Familiarity with network design software and tools (e.g. GIS systems).
Understanding of federal/state regulations related to broadband deployment.
