About the team.

This role reports directly to the Smithton French Fry FoodProcessing Plant Manager with a strong dotted line reporting to the ANZ Regional Environment Manager.

About the role.

The Environment Manager is responsible for the technical and cultural leadership coaching and management necessary to ensure compliance with environmental legislative requirements alignment to ISO 14001:2015 certification standards and to drive improvements at the McCain Smithton Plant in relation to energy water waste byproduct carbon emissions and general environmental performance.

  • Lead the strategic direction of the environmental function for the Smithton Plant
  • Own and drive onsite of McCain Driving Impact (MDI) element roadmap
  • Management of the plants environmental contracts
  • Lead/participate in the plants Resourceefficient Operations (REO) identification implementation and project management of major energy water and waste minimisation opportunities
  • Coordinate yearly completion of Best Operating Practice (BOP) selfassessments and drive improvement opportunities identified
  • Develop and maintain the site level Environmental Management System
  • Participate in EMS internal audits and ISO14001:2015 external audits
  • Monitoring and tracking of adherence to site environmental regulatory licenses permits and agreements
  • Lead environmental incident investigations and identification and implementation of preventative measures
  • Drive environmental risk management processes

About you.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in environmental science/engineering (preferred)

Skills:

  • Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and sitespecific authorisations and related requirements
  • Understanding of ISO14001:2015 EMS requirements
  • Knowledge of risk management and its applications
  • Experience of environmental management systems and their application
  • Understanding of environmental risks and the management of these
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills able to lead and influence others
