Manages and oversees a highly technical Information Security team. Accountable for implementing and monitoring adherence to the established IT security policies/procedures/standards; implementing IT security tools and technology to support security processes; and performing periodic security assessments and control reviews to assess the effectiveness of network security web security hostbased security applicationlevel security and database security. Manages resolution for security alerts and incidents. Provides monitoring tracking and reporting metrics related to the security program to the business. Coordination with key business units including Internal Audit IT Operations IT Development IT Management and Corporate Leadership.This position offers a hybrid work option. Nelnet values flexibility and understands the importance of worklife integration. Our hybrid work environment allows associates Living within 30 miles of an office location to work remotely for part of the week while also fostering collaboration and team connection through inoffice presence three days per week.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversees corporate Information Security group.
2. Identifies and implements appropriate controls to effectively manage Information Security.
3. Maintains strong working relationships with individuals and groups involved in managing information risks across the organization.
4. Monitor and validate adherence to information security controls and promote security awareness.
5. Maintain knowledge of regulatory standards and best practices.
6. Keeps up to date with current Information Security trends attacks and news. Promotes Information Security sharing and involvement with Information Security peers.
7. Evaluate Nelnet practices and make recommendations to improve policies standards procedures and guidelines.
8. Develop and lead associate growth including coaching objective setting training performance management and career opportunities.
9. Department planning purchasing and budget responsibilities.
EDUCATION:
1. BS/BA in Computer Science Information Security or equivalent work experience.
2. One or more of the following certifications: CISSP CISA CISM SANS or other industry certifications are strongly preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
5 years in Information Security including two or more years in Information Security Leadership
COMPETENCIES SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
1. Excellent oral written negotiation and presentation skills.
2. Strong analytical and problem solving skills with ability to achieve goals.
3. Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies.
4. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects and work within critical timelines.
5. An ability to communicate complex and technical issues to diverse audiences orally and in writing.
6. A welldeveloped understanding of and appreciation for business needs and a commitment to leading the Information Security team in delivering highquality prompt and efficient service to the business.
7. A working knowledge of the following areas of technical expertise: information policy formulation cybersecurity management risk assessment and management business continuity management vulnerability management change management and IT audit.
8. Understanding and application of Commercial and Open Source Information Security technologies and toolsets.
9. Strong leadership ability and personnel development skills.
Pay range for this role is $120000 $160000 annually depending on experience.
