VIPVolunteer In Paradise

Service Description

Thank you for your interest in joining Volunteer In Paradise (VIP)! VIP is an awardwinning program that is seeking recruits from various backgrounds to assist more students. VIP is looking for tutors to engage in oneonone tutoring with students on campus from kindergarten through to 8th grade. Virtual tutoring opportunities are also available.

VIPs differ from parent volunteers who might be simply interested in assisting in their childs classroom. Our vision is to help all PVSchools students achieve to their greatest ability. While the preferences of the volunteer are taken into account volunteers are placed based on the greatest need. We offer a wide variety of opportunities to serve the PVSchools Community including:

  • Tutoring K6 students in reading and math
  • Facilitating and mentoring middle school students during their AVID Tutorials
  • Tutoring English Language Learner parents in reading conversation and writing
  • Assisting preschool students as part of the SUN Kids Preschool program
  • Supporting early childhood learning for children from birth to age 5 development at the PV Family Resource Center
  • Chaperoning Educational Field Trips

Additionally VIP seeks volunteers with operational skills to support its growth. The program has a need for individuals with the following skills:

  • Marketing
  • Communication
  • Information Technology
  • Supervisory

Requirements:

  • Complete a fingerprinting background check (volunteers may walkin to obtain fingerprints (no cost) at the PVSchools District Office at 15002 N 32nd Street in Phoenix 850032 Monday through Friday 10 11 a.m.
  • Attend the 2hour volunteer orientation and 2 halfdays of professional training
  • Volunteers work at least 1 day per week for a predetermined schedule
  • Work from 1 to 10 hours per week during school hours
  • Commit to the entire academic school year ending in May (pre approved absences honored)
