Broad Peak (South) Elementary

Must possess a High School Diploma GED or Equivalent

POSITION: LEAD FOOD SERVICE
RESPONSIBLE TO: SUPERVISOR OF FOOD SERVICE

JOB GOAL: To ensure an atmosphere of efficiency cleanliness and friendliness
where students may be served nutritious attractive meals by providing
training to new food service staff and assuring uniformity of food
service procedures throughout the district.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
Three to five years related experience
Required to lift carry push and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds.
Must have basic computer knowledge of POS software and the Microsoft Office Suite
Demonstrated skills in working effectively with people
Demonstrated ability to train and lead people
Must possess and maintain ServSafe certification (Level II) or must be completed within six 6 months of employment as Lead Food Service
Willing to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or the Director of Business Operations may find appropriate

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain an inventory of supplies food received and used and participate in the ordering preparation and serving of food while adhering to rigid sanitary standards.

2. Ensure all new food service staff are trained and assist with receiving and putting away stock while comparing invoices of deliveries to items ordered and product meets quality standards notifying the Supervisor of Food Service within 24 hours of delivery of any problems.

3. Ensure uniformity of food service procedures throughout the district in cooperation with the Food Service Supervisor.

4. Attend monthly meetings with other Lead Food Service staff Supervisor of Food Service and the Director of Business Operations.

5. Facilitate communication between all building food service staff and the Supervisor of Food Service Department Secretary and the Director of Business Operations relaying specific needs suggestions share ideas etc.

6. Work with the Supervisor of Food Service to cover absences be willing to fill an absence and assist with assigning staff tasks/duties as needed or as directed by the Food Service Supervisor or Director of Business Operations.

7. Ensure training of new food service staff in the storage and care of food and supplies.

8. Ensure that menus developed by the Supervisor of Food Service are followed except in an emergency situation.

9. Ensure that all employees are aware of building emergency procedures/drills as well as the location of the HAACP book in compliance with the County Health Department.

10. Ensure all mandatory posters and licenses are displayed according to state guidelines.

11. Ensure new food service staff are trained in the cleaning of kitchen serving line and storage areas.

12. Ensure all equipment in the cafeteria area is in safe working condition and notify the appropriate authority when repairs or replacements are needed.

13. Provide leadership in creating a team atmosphere with all food service employees to accomplish daily tasks.

14. Provide all information required for daily lunch room sheets production records local state and federal reports.

15. Notify the Supervisor of Food Service of any problems.

16. Maintain a good working knowledge of all food service positions and kitchen equipment.

17. Maintain professional relationships with coworkers building staff and Supervisor of Food Service.

18. Ensure that all applicable laws and regulations are followed. In the event the employee becomes aware of any noncompliance by the District or other staff the employee is to report such to the Supervisor of Food Service (or the next higher level if the supervisor is responsible for the problem) and maintain confidentiality of the report so that the problem can be appropriately investigated and corrected.

19. Serve as a role model for students and staff demonstrating a good work ethic.

20. Ensure new food service staff are trained in clean up after meal service including items such as wiping off work surfaces and washing dishes including pots and pans.

21. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent Director of Business Operations or the Supervisor of Food Service.

EVALUATION: Performance of these responsibilities will be evaluated by the Food
Service Director in accordance with the provisions of the Boards
policy.
