Job Description

Psychiatrist FullTime

Join our team in beautiful Northern Ontario!


The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is seeking a fulltime Psychiatrist to join our innovative multidisciplinary referral and teaching hospital in Timmins.


The Timmins and District Hospitals Mental Health Program is seeking a Permanent General Psychiatrist to join its team. Candidates with a special interest in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry would be welcomed. The service of General Psychiatry provides a variety of inpatient and outpatient services for patients in Timmins and across the District including a 22bed adult and a 4bed Child and Adolescent inpatient unit(s) for diagnosing and treating patients with a variety of serious mental illnesses. Psychiatrists can also provide ECT services to inpatients and outpatients provide outpatient consultation and participate in the oncall roster with locum support.


There is also an opportunity to teach and mentor medical students and family medicine residents through affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

Position Requirements

Candidates must:

  • have (or be eligible for) Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Psychiatry
  • be (or eligible to be) licensed to practice as a Psychiatrist in the Province of Ontario
  • have (or be eligible to obtain) Canadian Medical Protective Associate (CMPA) coverage
  • have a commitment to patient safety and high standards of care


Remuneration

Compensation is a combination of FeeforService a lucrative Northern Specialist Alternate Payment Plan and a HOCC OnCall stipend.


Incentives

  • Relocation incentive is provided bythe Timmins and District Hospital.
  • Applicants can apply for the Ministry of Health Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (N3R). The N3R Initiative includes an $83301 incentive over 4 years for Canadian citizens and permanent residents who establish a practice in Timmins.

The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is a 225bed district hospital serving a local population of 41000 and a catchment area of 110000. The Timmins and District Hospital is a fully accredited referral and teaching hospital and offers a full range of Medical Surgical Critical Care Maternal/Child Long Term Care and Mental Health and Addiction Services. Affiliated with the NOSM University in addition to several colleges and universities in Ontario our hospital actively supports ongoing learning opportunities for medical residents and learners postsecondary and high school students.
