The IT Support Specialist requires an A certification plus a Microsoft Technology Associate certification and will progress when additional certification and time of experience has been achieved. However IT Support Specialists may be assigned additional job functions in all areas for which he/she is knowledgeable without respect to the assigned job classification level of IT Support Technician Specialist or Analyst.Job Description:
SUMMARY
Technical work relating to the installation maintenance operation and repair of the citys computer and telephone systems including all aspects of customer service

NOTE: The IT Service Desk Specialist classification is the second level in a series of three IT Service Desk job classifications. The IT Service Desk Specialist requires an A certification plus a Microsoft Technology Associate certification and will progress when additional certification and time of experience has been achieved. However IT Service Desk Specialists may be assigned additional job functions in all areas for which he/she is knowledgeable without respect to the assigned job classification level of IT Service Desk Technician Specialist or Analyst.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Depending on the area of assignment:
Acts as first point of contact to log classify and prioritize user queries requests and problems in support of the various computers network and telephone systems and associated peripheral equipment.
Troubleshoots isolates and determines root cause to resolve routine and intermediate level user queries requests and issues using established checklists and guidelines.
Configures tests and installs standard desktop and portable computers devices and associated peripherals within established standards.
Performs end user assistance and deploys software packages using remote desktop management
Identifies and takes corrective action to remove malware spyware and viruses to maintain integrity of IT environment.
Works with IT team members as needed to identify and resolve IT environment issues.
Deploys standard images for desktop environment.
Ensures end user workstations interconnect seamlessly in a multilayered client/server environment with diverse systems.
Applies established IT standards to daily work functions in the IT environment.
Distributes IT communication to end users for system performance alerts information and scheduled maintenance.
Assists in development of training curriculum and teaches courses.
Attends work on continuous and regular basis.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Below are the required education experience knowledge skills and abilities to perform the essential functions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma; and four 4 years of work experience in at least two of the following areas: customer service computer systems computer networks peripheral devices or help desk operations; or an equivalent combination of education training and experience that provide the required knowledge skills and abilities.
CERTIFICATIONS OR LICENSES
Licenses
Valid United States Driver License required at the time of appointment. Valid Florida Driver License required within thirty 30 days of start date and at all times while employed in this classification.
Certifications
Comp TIA A certification is an internationally recognized validation of the technical knowledge required of foundationlevel IT practitioners.
Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) certification required.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of principles and operations of computers network and telephone systems and networks and related technology.
Familiar with Windows operating systems and software packages.
Ability to install and perform minor repairs to hardware and peripheral equipment following design or installation specifications.
Experience with the delivery of excellent customer service in person and by telephone.
Familiar with remote assistance desktop tools.
Familiar with standard deployment of desktop images.
Familiar with Active Directory concepts.
Ability to keep records and prepare reports.
Ability to work effectively with coworkers.
Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to nontechnical people.
Ability to maintain system documentation related to local support functions.
Ability to develop course outlines and teach courses.
Ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully an individual must possess certain physical abilities and be able to withstand work related environmental conditions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work requires physical strength and agility sufficient to safely perform all essential job functions including the ability to lift carry push or pull 25 pounds without assistance.
Normal color vision required.
Oncall work required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
May be required to work to transport equipment outdoors under various climatic conditions.
