Job Description

Bethesdas Adult Clinical Services requires one 1 Full Time Occupational Therapist.

Working to promote Bethesdas values vision and mission statement and quality client care the Occupational Therapist will work within an interdisciplinary team in the delivery of an integrated biopsychosocial model of services to provide occupational therapy services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist by identifying and assessing adults with motor perceptual and/or sensory impairments where Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASDD) Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and/or Developmental Disability (DD) is confirmed.
  • Travel to and from community location and clinics to complete assessments on clients throughout Hamilton Niagara Haldimand/Norfolk and Brant communities.
  • Provide comprehensive assessment (i.e. discipline specific or as a member of the interdisciplinary team) including: review of documentation (i.e. previous assessment reports) observations of adult in the clinic and/or community administration of tests scoring tests analysis of data formulation of reports with recommendations and treatment strategies.
  • Complete assessments and develop therapy programs around the following areas: sensory functional environment including home safety and fall prevention life skills range of motion fine and gross motor positioning and feeding.
  • Collaborate with interprofessional teams and other programs in providing client centered assessments including some consultation regarding recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other professionals involved with the adult outside of the agency.
  • Maintain client records (i.e. consent forms contact notes raw data etc..
  • Coordinate and discuss with other community agencies (i.e. Community Care Access (CCAC)School Support Program) to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Assist and/or complete referrals to community agencies (i.e. CCAC) that may assist with treatment of the adult.
  • Inform individuals and/or family member of available resources and how to access (i.e. Autism Ontario Trillium Foundation camps etc..
  • Complete data management of caseload.
  • Review and learn all new standardized testing materials.
  • Remain up to date on research and new findings to ensure accurate assessments. This includes: reading journal articles attending conferences/courses and completion of preparation modules from the College of Occupational Therapists (COTO) regarding legislation.
  • Administrative duties: filing faxing photocopying reports letters etc. writing waitlist letters completion of forms for release of information from other agencies scheduling appointments etc.
  • Provision of education and mentorship to new grads and student Occupational Therapists.
  • Complete all required preparation modules and participate in continuing education for COTO to maintain credentials.
  • Participate in presentations to the community or Bethesda staff.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings.
  • Comply with Bethesda policies and procedures relating to health and safety.
  • Responsible for reporting all health and safety concerns immediately following the Internal Responsibility System.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Advertised wage is top of grid. Actual wage will fluctuate based on qualifications
