Position Overview
Graland Country Day School is seeking a Middle School English teacher to work closely with students in grades 58. A successful candidate will be an experienced teacher who understands school environments and the unique needs of Middle School students. This candidate thrives when working collaboratively and is skilled at building relationships with students faculty and families. Teaching in the Middle School at Graland is a multifaceted experience. Teachers are responsible for fostering students love of learning and the development of skills necessary to be successful.
Graland Country Day School is seeking a Middle School English teacher to work closely with students in grades 58. This candidate thrives when working collaboratively and is skilled at building relationships with students faculty and families. Teaching in the Middle School at Graland is a multifaceted experience. Teachers are responsible for fostering students love of learning and the development of skills necessary to be successful.
Middle School math English science and history teachers teach one grade level and form that grades MESH team whose role as a group is to engage students in their discipline while also fostering an inclusive learning experience that is meaningful and takes students beyond the four walls of the classroom. The development of central themes interdisciplinary units and common expectations for student work and behavior is a collaboration among the team. Students are placed at the center of learning and the MESH team also serve as grade level advisors who understand that students academic needs and socialemotional well being are paramount. Graland Middle School teachers fulfill a variety of roles that may include coaching sports chaperoning overnight trips sponsoring clubs and working with the Gates Innovation Lab.
The Middle School English curriculum at Graland supports students in their development of the lifelong critical thinking and communications skills necessary for students to navigate the discourse of any discipline they may pursue. With a focus on reading comprehension vocabulary and writing Middle School students are introduced to a variety of genres that expand their literary scholarship by making important texttoself texttocommunity texttoworld and texttotext connections. These connections are demonstrated through a range of assessments that include but are not limited to written essays oral presentations and group projects.

Qualifications
- An experienced educator background with Middle School students preferred.
- Have a bachelors degree masters degree preferred.
- Possesses strong organization and communication skills.
- Maintains effective relationships with students faculty administration and parents/guardians.
- Willingness to pursue ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Demonstrates ease with technology adoption of the LMS as well as other technology programs and tools to engage learners.
- Ability to chaperone students on day excursions as well as overnight trips.
- Desire to coach student athletics a plus.

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Salary is between $55000$85000. Benefits include professional development employerpaid health vision dental and life insurance paid time off for school holidays and school vacations as well as participation in a retirement plan.
