About the Position
In collaboration with Community Connections of Clearfield/Jefferson Counties (CCCJ) CenClear is hiring a Peer Ambassador for its Community Support Program (CSP). This role is a 50/50 split between CSP Ambassador and Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) duties.
The CPS is a supportive advocate for individuals aged 14 and older with a mental health diagnosis guiding them through their recovery journey by sharing lived experiences helping them set goals and connecting them to community support.
This position reports to the CPS Program Supervisor/CPS/CRS Director and the CCJ Crisis Program Specialist. The primary office is in DuBois PA. Mileage and time are reimbursed per agency policy.
What Youll Do:
- Serve as a role model to peers and recovery staff inspiring hope through shared experiences
- Coordinate and support annual events (e.g. CSP Day Community Resources Fair fishing derby holiday parties)
- Mentor recovery practices and coping strategies
- Engage atrisk individuals with recovery education
- Promote cultural sensitivity and traumainformed care
- Support goal setting selfadvocacy and skillbuilding
- Lead and cofacilitate support groups and community meetings
- Maintain a schedule of at least four CSP meetings annually
- Provide individual coaching for social spiritual and recreational activities
- Connect individuals to local services such as housing education employment and health care
- Support recovery planning (e.g. WRAP ISP) and ensure continued progress
- Maintain CPS certification and complete required trainings 18 hours annually; 12 focused on recovery)
- Provide community education to reduce stigma
- Assist in onboarding and training new team members on peer/recovery culture
- Attend state/regional CSP meetings and agencymandated inservices
- Update CSP social media and assist with alumnae networks
- Participate in team meetings quality improvement and data collection efforts
What Were Looking For:
- Lived mental health experience with a minimum of 1 year in recovery
- At least 18 years old
- Valid drivers license reliable transportation and willingness to travel
- Completion of a Peer/Recovery Specialist Certification
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- Comfortable working flexible hours with effective communication skills and basic knowledge of community resources
- Must obtain the following clearances prior to hire: PA State Police Criminal History PA Child Abuse History FBI Criminal History and Mandated Reporting Certificate
- Passion for collaborating with people being a role model for recovery and making a positive impact
- Willing and able to support both adults and youth/young adults (ages 1426 through sharing personal recovery experience
- Candidates with cooccurring recovery experience may be eligible for crosstraining as a Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS)
