Job Description
Canton High School seeks a highly qualified and DESEcertified fulltime Spanish teacher who has native or nearnative fluency in the language to teach Spanish for theschool year and beyond.
Successful applicants should be capable of teaching any level of Spanish from Spanish 1 through AP Spanish Language and Culture. Prospective candidates must be able to design and implement effective studentcentered curriculum units and lessons.
We are seeking a dynamic professional who will bring inclusive differentiated and purposeful standardsbased instruction to the world languages classroom. Applicants must be effective communicators who can articulate what they believe to be the essential ingredients of quality world languages instruction and be able to deliver lessons in the target language that meet the academic and socialemotional needs of all learners.
Desired candidates will be creative selfstarters able to design scaffold and implement instructional units and Integrated Performance Assessments informed by the current MA World Languages Curriculum Framework ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines and 2017 NCSSFLACTFL CanDo Statements 21st Century Skills Understanding By Design (UbD) and the essential design elements of ProjectBased Learning (PBL).
Candidates must be comfortable using a variety of technologies such as a digital language laboratory and the Google Suite to engage students in authentic learning experiences. Successful applicants will have experience with contentbased instruction proficiencybased teaching and learning TPR/S CI universal design for learning and student travel.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Current Massachusetts DESE certification in Spanish 512
- Successful student teaching experience
- Three 3 current professional references
- Experience integrating technology including digital language lab technology into lessons.
- Familiarity with the AAPPL Examination or other proficiency exams such as the STAMP 4S
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary instructional units and common assessments and to work in data teams
- Flexible dependable and organized
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Passion for teaching high school students
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional DESE Licensure French or Italian
