Tarleton State University invites applications from individuals with a passion for working with rural and/or underserved communities and the desire to advance the role of occupational therapy in traditional and emerging settings for a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) is a 10.5month appointment located on Tarletons main campus in Stephenville Texas. Work hours: MonFri; 8 AM5 PM or as work and teaching requirements indicate. Requires the ability to teach and/or work remotely at the Universitys discretion.
Tarleton State has applied for accreditation with the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). The program must be granted Candidacy Status have a preaccreditation review complete an onsite evaluation and be granted Accreditation Status before its graduates will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the Occupational Therapists administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
Responsibilities:
The Clinical Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy Program with a focus on Adult Rehabilitation will:
Develop a curriculum for the adult population following ACOTE guidelines and teach graduate students using transformative learning models
Maintain and monitor adult occupations lab space
Participate in curriculum design program evaluation accreditation responsibilities and holistic application review
Serve as admissions coordinator for the new program including facilitating outreach and awareness in the community
Participate in interdisciplinary and intradisciplinary curriculum planning
Mentor doctorallevel graduate students in community settings and collaborate to create new innovative opportunities within the rural community
Mentor doctorallevel graduate capstone projects
Demonstrate a commitment to building an accessible scholarly environment
100 Teaching and Service: Develop implement and review effective teaching/learning processes incorporating appropriate methodology technology and other tools; Remain current in discipline and update course content when appropriate to reflect current levels of student knowledge in the discipline; Develop a system for ongoing evaluation of both teaching and learning including expectations of student competency and student learning outcomes; Work in partnership with immediate supervisor through a formal system of evaluation of instruction to identify strengths and weaknesses and identify professional development activities to improve student learning. May be required to teach at other campuses or online. Maintain appropriate schedule of office hours for student access and inquiry; Work in partnership with student success personnel on student advising and orientation. Participate in institutional service roles such as but not limited to college committees club sponsorship advisory committees student/faculty recruitment and mentoring of new and parttime faculty.
Required Education and Experience:
Completed doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDErecognized institutional accrediting body required (or equivalent)
Must have an active Texas state license (or be license eligible) as an Occupational Therapist and possess an initial NBCOT certification
Minimum 35 years of clinical experience with adult populations

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability in the discipline and showing clear promise of teaching excellence as evidenced in evaluation by peers department head and college dean. Documented yearly progress of professional achievement in teaching and service.
