LPN Part-time

Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Associates degree (foreign equivalent or higher) and four 4 years of fulltime experience working in a healthcare setting or a Bachelors degree (foreign equivalent or higher) and two 2 years of fulltime experience in a healthcare setting may be considered. Active/Full Licensed (or active/full licensed by 4/30/2025 Practical Nurse in New York State.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with Cerner EMR. Experience working with Microsoft office suite. Bilingual in English/Spanish.

Brief Description of Duties:
The incumbent should be highly experienced and knowledgeable in the field of medical specialty requirements and perform highly complex functions under the general supervision of a licensed medical practitioner or health professional. Incumbent will receive written or oral instructions as to priorities scheduling or technical requirements and are expected to carry out assignments under general supervision consulting with the licensed medical practitioner or health professional. Incumbent should possess cultural competence in providing care to LGBTQ patients and people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). Demonstrated working knowledge of many procedures under a variety of work conditions including strict deadlines or emergencies. This is a parttime position for 20 hours/week.

Duties:

• Patient Assessment: assess patients medical history current symptoms and potential risk factors for STIs.
• Testing: collect samples (e.g. blood urine swabs) for STI testing and ensure that these samples are properly labeled and sent to the lab for analysis.
• Medication Administration: administer medications including intramuscular antibiotics.
• FollowUp Care: communicate with patients about results of testing.
• Patient Education: educate patients about their specific STI diagnosis transmission and prevention.
• Documentation: document patient information test results and treatments properly.
• Collaboration: work closely with other healthcare professionals such as physicians nurse practitioners and case managers to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care.
• Cultural Competence: be culturally sensitive and nonjudgmental is crucial when working with a diverse population as this fosters open communication and trust.
• Work for prior authorization of with insurances if needed.
• Submit invoices to SBU Wolfmart system for payments.
• Schedule appointments for patients.
• Other duties as assigned.
