SOCIAL WORKER

JOB TITLE:Certified Social Worker 2025/2026 School Year)

LOCATION:School building depending on need

REPORTS TO:Building Principal & Superintendent

CALENDAR:185days / year

HOURS:Full Time

SALARY:Placed on Certified Pay Scale; 10 Extra Days; $1000 Stipend plus benefits

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The required academic degree is a Masters of Social Work from a graduate school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and Idaho licensure as an LMSW and Idaho Pupil Personnel Services certification

JOB GOAL: Under the direction of the Administrator Student Support Services
the primary role of the Social Worker is to identify and assist students families and school systems to overcome barriers that interfere with learning through the use of assessment counseling consultation coordination of school and community resources and program development. TheSocial Worker utilizes knowledge of human behavior social cultural and community influences to help create a positive learning climate. The Community School Social Worker functions as a mental health professional on the multidisciplinary teams and provides case management services. Social Workers will conform to the standards established by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) code of ethics.

Planning and Preparation:
The school social worker identifies school needs and organizes responses consistent with professional social work within a school context.

  1. Conducts multitiered school needs assessment.
  2. Identifies scientifically supported educational behavioral and mental health services to address school needs.
  3. Identifies school and community resources to meet school needs
  4. Establishes collaborative professional relationships
  5. Assess family engagement
  6. Knows current federal state and local laws as well as district policies and procedures that guide school social work practice.


The School Environment
The school social worker advances studentcentered school environments that are conducive to learning demonstrating respect for differences in culture background and learning needs.

  1. Contributes to a safe and healthy school
  2. Advocates for policies programs and services that respect diversity address individual needs and support the inherent dignity and worth of all students families and school personnel
  3. Identifies historical and current political social culturaland economic conditions that impact the context for learning and advocates for change.
  4. Challenges structural barriers social inequalities and education disparities impacting learning outcomes.


Service Delivery
The school social worker uses knowledge of social work theory practice and research to implement programs and services in a schools context.

  1. Implements and monitors multitiered empiricallysupported interventions that improve academic and behavioral performance.
  2. Provides programs and services that foster social and emotional competencies
  3. Provides specialized services such as crisis intervention and consultation
  4. Provides programs and services in a culturally sensitive manner
  5. Mobilities school and community resources to maximize academic and behavior success
  6. Identifies and supports students and families who are homeless
  7. Assist schools in the recognition identification of child abuse/neglect situations.
  8. Responsible for reporting child abuse/neglect and educational neglect situations.


Professional Responsibilities
The school social worker maintains a commitment to professional conduct that enhances student academic and behavioral success

  1. Adheres to the standards and practices requirements set by the State Education Agency
  2. Adheres to the NASW Code of Ethics and SSWAA ethical guidelines
  3. Maintains timely and accurate records and documentation in compliance with FERPA and state requirements.
  4. Continues professional development
  5. Exhibits selfawareness self monitoring and professional accountability
  6. Implements and meets the requirements of the MckinneyVento Act
  7. Oversee and support student intern social works
  8. Work collaboratively with universities to support and develop the school social work program
  9. Work closely with the building principal to meet the needs of students families and staff in the school
  10. Support and provide other duties and services as assigned by the Administrator of Student Support Services
