Job Description

Job Purpose:

You will take the lead on the hotels financial strategy operational performance financial reporting setting up & optimizing internal controls team management & development capital expenditure review & developing productive relationships with 3rd parties in the region. The role will work closely with the Area Director of Finance and Hotel General Managers cross functional Executive Team establish & drive the performance of the hotel.

Main Responsibility:

  • Cluster Director of Finance DOF is responsible for overseeing financial performance in the area as well as directly responsible for the accounting department within the base property.
  • This includes but is not limited to; on time delivery and review of financial statements budget & other finance reports (e.g. critical date checklist FC check list P&P checklist management contract compliance) monthly balance sheet reconciliations & supporting other finance operations at assigned hotels in the area.
  • Lead the financial input into the formulation and implementation of the Hotels Strategic Plans and Budgets and any other key strategic planning exercises. Ensuring of all such plans.
  • Capex planning & forecasting conduct monthly review of capex needed ensuring FCs are following the capex process and preparing necessary backup to facilitate efficient approval.
  • Taking responsibility for the professional development of all Finance staff.  This includes identifying training needs and supporting the release of staff to attend training or task force assignments. Ensuring performance appraisal process and career development plans are managed to deliver strong financial performance from all finance team members in the cluster.
  • Responsible for managing the external & internal audit process at each report including the timely completion and submission of all statutory submissions
  • Liaising with key external advisors notably external & internal audit & in obtaining appropriate legal counsel regarding the business practices of the hotel and maintaining an awareness of local laws rules and regulations.
  • Dealing honestly and fairly with clients customers suppliers and financial partners. The longterm success of the Company depends upon establishing mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Constructively review each resort performance at monthly performance review and drive follow up action points to positive conclusion
  • Ensure each resorts submissions are proactively prepared and reviewed in advance of key meetings such as quarterly and budget review.
  • Establish robust internal controls for all revenues and expenses and protection of assets. Ensure base property operates as a centre of excellence for internal controls & systems automation & lead standardising financial best practice across each resort.
  • Enhance the cash flow performance of the hotels ensuring optimal financial outcomes.
  • Lead the financial contribution to the development and of the Hotel Strategic Plan and Budget as well as other strategic planning initiatives.
  • Implement robust internal controls and procedures for revenue and expenditure management safeguarding all assets effectively.
  • Foster transparent and equitable relationships with clients customers suppliers and financial partners recognizing that sustained success relies on mutually beneficial collaborations.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate reporting of financial and operational data offering insightful analysis interpretations and forecasts in line with established finance manual guidelines.
  • Take charge of the professional growth of the Finance team identifying training needs and facilitating staff participation in relevant training programs.
  • Seek appropriate legal counsel to ensure compliance with local laws regulations and business practices maintaining a keen awareness of evolving legal landscapes.
  • Safeguard all contracts leases and financial records ensuring secure storage and accessibility.
  • Commit to personal professional development staying updated with industry best practices and maintaining professional competence.

Qualifications :

  • Degree in Finance Accounting or a related field & professional accounting qualification
  • Minimum 5 years experience at Director level that includes:
    • Track record of driving hotel finance performance.
    • Strong technical accounting finance & taxation skills.
    • Preparation review analysis & presentation of management & statutory reporting.
    • Extensive Knowledge of hotel internal controls.
    • Knowledge of budget process.
  • Team Management with ability to meet tight deadlines & coach team.
  • Ability to communicate with stakeholders at various levels.
  • Fluent in English and any additional language is advance
  • Understanding of financial regulations within the Maldives hospitality sector.
  • Computer literate including systems implementation & knowledge of Fusion Opera & Micros
