The Opportunity
Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Mechanical Technician in our Plate Mill team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
The Plate Rolling team converts steel slab products into plate by controlling the heating and cooling processes within the plant to produce a range of plate products for our customers. In this handson role you will be an active team member supporting the maintenance of Plate Mill so that we can continue manufacturing our world class products and solutions for our valued customers.
What Will You Do
In a role that impacts the safety of our people as well as the quality and reliability of our equipment and products you will:
- support ongoing and efficient production through the maintenance of onsite equipment
- plan and organise for shutdowns
- demonstrate your mechanical expertise on many and varied Capital projects
- contribute to the team with out of hours support
- seek ways to continuously improve our maintenance strategies
More About You
As a career maintenance mechanic youll enjoy taking ownership for your work and contributing to the larger team. You will bring:
- experience as a qualified Mechanical Fitter/Machinist
- experience in mechanics and automation
- proven exposure to maintenance management systems and basic computer skills
- an enthusiasm to learn new skills and develop yourself in the role
