This position is open to Alaskan Residents only.


WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

This Criminal Justice Technician Flex position is one of two positions that support the Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) Anchorage Airport Interdiction Team (AAIT).

This position directly supports investigators within the AAIT in the areas of research criminal intelligence parcel interdiction and case development and management. Duties will vary widely from tracking assets seized by the Unit assisting investigators with case development researching information pertaining to criminal history checks as well as administrative tasks such as payroll travel coordinating and compiling statistical reports.

OUR ORGANIZATION MISSION AND CULTURE:
The mission of the SDEU is to interdict and seize alcohol and controlled substances that are illegally distributed throughout Alaska. The Department of Public Safetys mission is to ensure public safety drives our team to take illegal and alcohol off the street and ultimately dismantle drug trafficking organizations. Your role is to support the investigators by taking the weight of many administrative and clerical tasks off their plates so they can be out in the field where their training and expertise are best used. You will also become familiar with common players in the drug and alcohol trafficking world and will be able to offer information and insight to investigators throughout their investigations.

Criminal Justice Technician 2 Minimum Qualifications (Range 14

Successful completion of training under a formally established Criminal Justice Technician 12 flexible staffing training plan with the State of Alaska;
OR
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:

Any combination of education and/or paraprofessional or professional experience or service in criminal justice juvenile justice probation parole public safety law enforcement corrections court legal services law office social services social sciences or public assistance programs or functions.

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. The level of the job offer will be based on the selected candidates credibly possessed and proven competencies. If hired at the lower level you will be promoted to the higher level after completing the training plan and demonstrating competency in the work.

This position requires the use or possession of a firearm or ammunition. In accordance with the federal Omnibus Consolidated Appropriations Act of 1997 (PL 104208 if you have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence you may not hold this position.

A misdemeanor crime of domestic violence is an offense that is 1 a misdemeanor under Federal or state law; and 2 has as an element the use or attempted use of physical force or the threatened use of a deadly weapon committed by a current or former spouse parent or guardian of the victim by a person with whom the victim shares a child in common by a person who is cohabiting with or has cohabited with the victim as a spouse parent or guardian or by a person similarly situated to a spouse parent or guardian of the victim.

If you have ever been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence do NOT apply for this position.


BACKGROUND CHECK

This position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check. Due to the sensitive nature of this position and required access to APSIN an applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.
