is seeking
College and University Students for Classroom Support
For theschool year
SCHOOLS : All locations. Successful applicants to the list(s) are able to indicate which schools they are willing to accept assignments.
SCHEDULE : Casual. On call basis. No guarantee of hours. Dependent on school needs. For the current school year only.
RATE OF PAY: Casual Educational Support Personal Rate $22.49 per hour; Unqualified Casual Early Childhood Educator Rate $24.03 per hour; Unqualified Supply Instructor $132.84 per full day
EDUCATION: Minimum of Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent; enrolled in post secondary education in a related field including but not limited to Autism or Behaviour Science Program; Educational Assistant Program; Early Learning Program; Teaching Program; DSW Program; SSW Program; ECE Program CYC Program.
SUMMARY : Assist the teacher educational support personnel and early childhood educators in the classroom to help maintain a safe caring and respectful learning environment. Follow lesson plans and/or instructions provided to you by the classroom teacher or other classroom staff. Provide supervision as assigned by the school Administrator.
Educational Support Personnel would be working with children with special needs and/or behaviours needs. Would need to be able to collaborate with the classroom teacher and follow instructions and schedule for the classroom.
Early Childhood Educator would be responsible for assisting the teacher in a kindergarten classroom to maintain a safe caring and respectful learning environment.
Unqualified Supply Instructor would be responsible for supervising a classroom and should be prepared to follow the instructions provided by the teacher. Able to work with little supervision and maintain a safe classroom.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
- Post secondary education in a relatedfield
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to take direction and follow instructions
- Experience in a classroom setting or similar environment
- Ability and willingness to perform physical tasks and assist with personal care when required
- Ability to remain calm and non confrontational under pressure
- Current BMS Training Certificate or other behaviour management program would be an asset
- Current First Aid Certificate would be an asset
