Job Description

Job Title: SEMS Clerk

Reports to: Director of Special Education

Days to Work: 205194 Days/10 Months

Pay Grade: CT:3 $14.85$21.43(Depends on Years of Experience)

Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt

Dept./School: Special Education

Date Revised: 9/2/11:05/2020; 06/2023

Report Date: TBA: 25/26

Primary Purpose:

The SEMS Clerk supports the Special Education office by maintaining data management records of all students and managing the daily operations of the special education office on campus.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proficient skills in typing word processing and file maintenance
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databases and do word processing
  • Bilingual Preferred

Experience:

  • Two years of clerical aide experience preferred

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for a computer management system through district. This includes periodic reports in Special Ed. Manager and Skyward systems.
  • Obtain data from assessment staff
  • Verify data with assessment staff and/or campus personnel
  • Enter new data into system
  • Run reports and check information for accuracy
  • Routine updating of files
  • Provide information of all required reports
  • Maintain active and inactive folders on all students
  • Notify parents of impending ARD meetings and verify with a followup phone call
  • Answer incoming calls; take reliable message and route to appropriate staff
  • Schedule and send ARD/transition notices for students
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Maintain confidentiality

Equipment Used:

  • Be proficient with current computer programs.

  • Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; prolonged use of computer.
