Description

The City of Campbells Recreation & Community Services Department is seeking motivated energetic teamoriented individuals who enjoy working with children and teens for our Recreation Leader I II III positions!

Location:John D. Morgan Park and/or Campbell Community Center

SCHEDULE
Staff Training: June 9 June 12 from 9:00 am 4:00 pm
Camp Dates and Hours:June 16 August 8 from 8:30 am 4:30 pm (Tentative)

SALARY
All positions are parttime temporary nonbenefited positions. The pay rate will be dependent on qualifications and experience and is as follows:

  • Recreation Leader I (High School) $16.50 $17.50 per hour
  • Recreation Leader II $17.50 $19.50 per hour
  • Recreation Leader III $19.50 $21.50 per hour

Example of Duties

The Recreation Leader will have the opportunity to plan conduct and supervise children ages 4 to 15.5 in structured activities such as games camp songs arts & crafts swimming and field trips in a recreational park setting. This position will interact with the public and work as a team to provide exceptional programs in Campbell.

Qualifications

  • Recreation Leader I: Experience working with children or teens in a recreational setting is desired but not required.
  • Recreation Leader II:12 years of experience working with youth in a recreational setting is desired but not required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Recreation Leader III:2 or more years of experience working with youth in a day camp setting or similar program is required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Additional Qualifications:
  • The minimum age at the start date of the assignment is 16 years.
  • Tuberculosis test results must be submitted prior to scheduled employment.
  • Work permit required if under 18 and still in high school.

SELECTION PROCESS

The most qualified applicants will be invited to participate in an interview. Selections will be made from the results of the interviews. Final selection is contingent upon a preemployment criminal history records check and the ability to provide verification of authorization to work in the United States.

TENTATIVE RECRUITMENT SCHEDULE

Open until filled applications received by February 10 2025 will be considered for the first round of interviews.

    • Instead of submitting a cover letter please answer the supplemental questions about why you would be an excellent Recreation Leader and your experience working with children.
  3. What is the summer season work commitment
    • Inservice training is required for all new hires 6/96/13. Recreation Leaders need to be available to work a minimum of 6 weeks during the camp season 6/16 to 8/8. You can also apply to be an oncall substitute if you have prior experience working day camp or a similar program.
