Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
- Prepare detailed analysis design and project deliverables including drawings specifications and reports for general marine terminal infrastructure.
- Prepare design criteria and construction specifications.
- Prepare quantity takeoffs and assist in the preparation of capital cost estimates.
- Conduct field work and support during construction.
- Attend project coordination meetings and liaise with project team members clients subconsultants contractors and regulatory and environmental approval agencies.
- Liaise with clients to determine client requirements and prepare proposals design work cost estimate and project scheduling.
- Mentor/direct junior staff and review their works.
- Actively encourage and support a safetyoriented culture.
- Travel as required for various field programs.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will have a degree in civil engineering from an accredited postsecondary institution (a masters degree is preferred).
- Relevant years of experience in marine structural engineering/research or a related discipline.
- Registered or eligibility for registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Design and inspection experience in marine structures including docks marinas ports piers steel sheet pile structures steel timber and concrete pile structures floating structures and waterfront facilities.
- Experience in large scale industrial and maritime projects.
- Port layout and planning experience.
- Experience with tides currents wave and wind forces.
- Experience with berthing mooring and passing ship analysis.
- Experience with seismic design structural analysis software.
- Experience with MOTEM standard.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and communication skills (written and verbal).
For applicants based in the province of British Columbia the salary range is CAD $98976 to $145553.
Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidates qualifications relevant years of experience geographic location internal pay equity and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
