- Current licensure as a Cosmetologist per chapter 4713 of the Ohio Revised Code or current licensure as a Barber per chapter 4709 of the Ohio Revised Code.

Job Skills: Board and Commission Compliance
- Administering practical and theory examinations under the scope of practice of cosmetology and barbering under sections 4713 & 4709 of the Ohio Revised Code in order for students to obtain licensure.
- Preparing examination areas for daily scheduled examinations registering and verifying identification for admittance to examination (e.g. work permit notification form current valid photo I.D).
- Providing information and responding to routine and sensitive inquiries from applicants and licensees.
- Providing orientation and detailed instruction to examinees prior to and during the entire examination process.
- Monitoring and controlling examination areas.
- Collecting and preparing examination materials for grading and result process.
- Securing examination materials and equipment.
- Responding to phone and email inquiries related to examination process results and school information.
- Serving as backup to complete inspections in order to maintain inspection standards as set by the Board or in the event of an extended leave of assigned inspector.
- Serving as school liaison to a defined group of licensed schools; duties include but are not limited to collecting of required submissions to the Board corresponding to related but not limited to examination procedures student applications program hours and law and rule changes as related to the Board performing monthly audit of student hours and required submissions verifying testing information in a variety of scope related textbooks.
- Providing examinations at offsite location(s) through DRC (Department of Rehabilitation & Correction).

The Boards mission is to protect and support the public through regulation and education while protecting the integrity of the cosmetology and barbering industries. The Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board oversees the effective licensing and regulations of cosmetology branches of cosmetology barbering and tanning services.
- Unless required by legislation or union contract salary will be set at the lowest rate of the salary range with gradual increases in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code or OCSEA/AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement.
