Position Description
POSITION TITLE: Law and Public Safety Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS: Earned twoyear college degree (associate degree) or higher from and accredited institution of higher education. The degree must be in Criminal Justice Emergency Medicine (EMC) Political Science Social Science OR a twoyear college degree or higher with documented completion of law enforcement training emergency medicine training fire academy training or millitary training or eighteen 18 hours of acceptable coursework with and earned grade of C or higher in the subject area to be taught.
REPORTS TO:Principal and/or other Supervisor
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 187days with benefits
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Apply knowledge of law law enforcement and public safety to lead students to gain skills and understanding of the principles needed to pursue a career in law enforcement and/or public safety.
Lead students to the acquisition industry recognized certifications in law enforcement and public safety.
Make industry connections promoting service learning cooperative education and workbased learning opportunities for the students.
Assist students as an advisor for student organization and particpation in law and public safety competitions.
Recognize and respond appropriately to individual differences in students.
Develop lesson plans and plans lessons in a logical sequence.
Collaborate with other educators to create the most complete educational environment possible for students.
Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLC).
Administer group standardized tests as required.
Using a variety of assessment techniques and/or models to evaluate student performance.
